Thread: Cajuns Strength of Schedule

  1. UL 1984, 1999 . . . . Cajuns Strength of Schedule

According to CBS Sportsline, to date, UL is ranked number 9 in strength of schedule. I just wanted to share that piece of information with everyone.

Thats worthless information, considering the BCS no longer uses Strength of Schedule. Also, it doesnt mean much when the only 2 games of the season that matter(to this point) were both 42+ _____ kickings. Its time for us to see what we have against someone possibly on our level, and not a Junior Varsity team from NC. And I know why we had to play them, so dont respond with that excuse. We'll all see what this team is made of on Saturday, if they come out with a nice win then we are on the right track, loss this one and we're in trouble when it come to that road trip to Troy, AL. I find that interesting considering the Tigers have not had a quality win as of yet and Texas A&M almost gets knocked off by Army. North Carolina was not as good as I thought. I was impressed with the Tall Defensive end that basically said no on the couple 5 and out passes Jerry tried to throw.

I also see that the BCS no longer uses Strength of Schedule. I hope to see improvement Saturday night and then again against Houston I hope we can pull that one off.

Let's remember the season really begins October 18 at Boca Raton.

It is true that the computers used in the BCS do not take into account strength of schedule, but one would be incredibly naive to think that strength of schedule does not factor into the coaches poll and the AP poll. These 2 polls are used in calculating the BCS standings along with the computer. That's the same thing that Jay said about the margin of victory that was removed from the formula. It may not factor into the computer, but it will make a difference in the 2 human polls. That in turn, will make an impact in the BCS rankings.

I believe that poll and Saarigen's take in the games played so far. There is no way at the end of the season we will be 9th. Every SEC: BIG Ten/Twelve and PAC 10 team will have a much higher schedule rating by then. Add in the ACC and Big East also, and probably the MAC.
