I will chime in here. People I trust think that the talent of the defense is upgraded over last year. Sure Bentley is a huge hole to fill, but with the expected upgrade in other positions the defense will be fine. Just my view, but Lamar we should win if we expect any kind of season. We have a hard game with Troy for a young defense, but after that is all falls in our favor. Cajuns get to 9-3 or better.

I'm with you on this EXPRESS ... talent can make up for a lot of mistakes until combined with experience, then you have a pretty good defense. I think (ok I'm hoping) our defense surprises everybody, just like in the NO Bowl shutting down their running game!

I'm not trying to pretend to know more than the football experts, but defensive units are far more effected by individual talent than they are "group experience". If our JUCO transfers are as good as advertised, we have absolutely no reason not to expect an increase in defensive line play. They are "experienced". UL has thrown a lot on the back of our defensive secondaries, who in reality have done a heck of a job, for having a "not too disruptive" defensive line. Superior programs are superior more due to a disruptive defensive line (or even one or two dominating lineman) than many understand.

The proof will be in the pudding, but that is where I'm going to be looking for signs of improvement. If that comes, I seriously like the prospects of our program this coming year.

----------------What an interesting point---With all the attention being given to the great offensive plays and the kick return touchdown--not to mention the FG----just remember the first carries by their great RB---Well we shut him down but he looked unreal in those carries---Yes we had a Game Plan on defense that was just as good as one could ask for!!!!!
