LOUISIANA La. – Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns won two Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week awards, as announced by the conference office Monday. Senior quarterback Jerry Babb was the SBC Offensive Player of the Week and sophomore wide receiver Jason Chery was named SBC Special Teams Player of the Week for their efforts this past Saturday in the Cajuns 48-7 victory over North Carolina A&T.

Babb had three touchdowns in the win. Playing in just over two quarters of football (Cajuns led 34-0 at the half), Babb had seven carries for 54 yards and two rushing touchdowns. He completed 5-of-10 passes for 78 yards and a score. It was the SBC Pre-Season Offensive Player of the Year’s fourth career game with at least three touchdowns. The individual Sun Belt weekly honor is the third of Babb’s career.

Chery blocked a punt that was returned for a touchdown – the game’s first score – giving the Cajuns a quick 7-0 lead before the offense hit the field. He had three solo tackles on special teams. Also the Cajuns starting wide receiver, Chery caught a 53-yard pass on third-and-six from the Cajuns 24-yard line.
