An open date apparently wasn't a time for rest and recuperation for the University of Louisiana football team.

The Ragin' Cajuns went through two of their toughest workouts of the fall season last Tuesday and Wednesday, and Cajun coach Rickey Bustle said the rugged practices won't change this week.

"We came out two days in full pads, and the players wanted that," Bustle said Monday. "We really pushed it. The open date came at a right time for us."

The Cajuns, after a 45-3 loss to LSU and a 51-7 setback at Texas A&M, go direct from overdrive to reverse in opponent stature Saturday. UL hosts struggling North Carolina A&T (0-2) in its 4 p.m. home opener, but Bustle and several players said that Saturday's game will be less about the visiting Aggies and more about the Cajuns finding direction.
