Thread: Will Clemens get my Hall vote?

  1. Default Will Clemens get my Hall vote?

How did Roger Clemens get here? Look back at his career in pictures. If you believe that Roger Clemens used performance-enhancing drugs, I seriously doubt that the “not guilty” verdict on Monday is going to persuade you he was clean. It’s ...

I met Clemens once as part of my employment, unfortunately.

I've been fortunate, I guess, to meet and deal daily with literally dozens of professional athletes, coaches and managers as part of my former career in golf, PGA Tour boys, MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL players, entertainers from Sidney Poitier to Axl Rose to Bill Murray. 99% are just regular folks going through their day with a smile, like most folks, fully aware how lucky they are. Clemens willl make the A-Hole HOF on the first ballot. He is the poster child for entitled, dumbass, spoiled brat ballplayers. Karma is a B.

personally, i don't believe a word he says about the whole affair. i also knew the case against him was not going anywhere. but, in our judicial system, a verdict of not guilty does not necessarily mean you are actually not guilty. total jerk right there.

We must never forget the courts of the United States were never set up to get the greatest number of guilty to jail, but to make sure the fewest innocent go to jail. Even with all of that we, with the advent of DNA, see people voted guilty proven innocent, we see out of control prosecutors such as the Duke Lacross team blunder.

Roger Clement may be all that people say, and maybe he brought it on himself by testifying but he is the poster child for the system. IMO the whole issue should never have been brought up by a bunch of people whose sole gift is an ability to lie, and grandstand, our congress.

He would get my vote. A great percentage of major league player had some level of steroid use during that era. They say Ty Cobb was also a real butt hole, and a racist, nobody talking about pulling his bust.

There is a school of thought that the best players should go in regardless, because steroids and HGH were all over, which has merit. He obviously was one of the best. However, his performance improved significantly the year after the Red Sox let him got to Toronto, his 14th year in MLB. He pitched well for another 10 years. He certainly trained like a maniac, likely chemically aided. the first half of his career was worthy of HOF consideration. He had 3 Cy Youngs before 1992. The second half was almost as good, but probably artificially enhanced. That said, I'd probably vote for him. 354 wins and nearly 4,700 strike outs are amazing.

Part of what makes him a jerk made him a great player, like Bonds and a bus load of others. He had swag out the rear end. I'd pay $100 to watch him play in his prime, but I don't want to have dinner with him. It's a package deal. I doubt he'll ever get in, though. He was, and is his own worst enemy. He didn't kiss enough reporters butts.

He probably should make it in simply due to the fact that he qualifies from a baseball perspective and like you said, there was such massive steriod abuse for such a long perior of time that you just about can't deny anyone in that "era".

They should, however, have an "asterisk" next to his name that says "rumored steroid user" and a "starfish" under the asterisk that says "confirmed sphincter of a n u s".
