Gerald gets new brick gated entrances that look great, but leaves the old rusted link fence and gate that is a major eyesore; not to mention the weeds growing around the base of the fence and gated area and weeds growing just about everywhere. Grass is uncut and the entire complex looked really bad. The Cajundome doesn't have a fence around its property and the grass is manicured and looks terrific. Why do they need the link fence around the athletic complex, particularly around Cajun Field parking lot? It is a major eyesore. And, this is not even around the construction area, but everywhere else. I understand the fence will be replaced at some point. In the meantime, remove it and get rid of this terrible eyesore.

There are many positive things happening, but it is inexcusable not to have the complex in top shape year round, every week. This was a holiday weekend and I was embarassed to show it to my family and friends. The median on Cajundome blvd. had grass about a foot high and uncut as were along the sidewalk areas outside of the fence around Cajun Field parking. If the City of Lafayette is responsible for this, make sure the City takes care of it. There are a lot of other things that I went into in my email to Gerald that I won't elaborate on here.

This is one of my pet peeves, but there is no reason not to have clean, neat, well kept facilities that we can be proud to showcase all year and not just on game days. This is a very important area that has been grossly overlooked and not that costly to remedy. This needs to be addressed and I thought Gerald would be the best person to go to on this. Hopefully, he will at least read my emails and take positive action.
I asked Gerald if he received an e-mail or a call from you and he said that he had not. Please email me through this forum with a # that he can reach you. I will see to it that he gives you a call.

Just as an FYI....I had asked Gerald about the concerns that you have and he said that maintenance is not something that he has control over. It is the responsibility of the University. He did indicate that this issue was being worked on.

Please be patient....... there are some really wonderful things taking place that I know you and everybody will be proud of. It's just going to take some time. I really believe that Gerald and Company will build a program that you will be able to take pride in.

I know Gerald does a lot for football and baseball, but what has he done for basketball?? Besides the new practice facility, which he is not the mastermind over, what has he gotten donated or improved for them?? He has done some good things, but he is not just assigned to football. He is the Coordinator of ATHLETIC Development, or whatever the hell his title is. Its not FOOTBALL Development, or BASEBALL Development, its ATHLETIC which means all UL Athletic Programs. And lets be honest....of the mens sports, on a regular basis, Mens Basketball is more consistent than all the others, Football SPLIT a championship and still have not been to the post season since what, the 70s?? Baseball is always solid and of coarse the 2000 World Series, but basketball is going to get you more exposure than any of those. Since Gerald does so many heavenly things, he needs to do some of these for other sports....basketball, track, softball, soccer. For example....New Cajundome Floor(or redo current one with some logos that are actually used by the university), upgrade locker room to resemble a Division I university not Junior Varsity in Class C, what happened to having the scoreboard finished before the 1st game??, I also heard him say that the gate that was hit will be replaced the next week??....He does some good things, but he needs to focus on the whole athletic department. And if something is not able to get done, dont say "We're working on it" just to act like you are doing it, knowing he is. Just be honest and say thats something we will look at, not its being done today(finishing the scoreboard, brick gate....) Just my thoughts on what I heard on the radio and what Ive seen.

I really am glad you just posted that, cause it proved my point EXACTLY.....not ONE of those things benefits mens basketball. So happy you put that. He is obviously pushing some sports more than others, thats all Im saying. He does a great job, but do it for all sports.

Dude..............You don't know crap. Over the last 4 years Gerald has asked for volunteers to work at the Baseball Stadium, Softball stadium, Tennis Stadium, Football Stadium, Track Stadium, & yes I helped work on the Basketball locker rooms. All of these facilities were in great need of repair and upgrade.

Men's basketball plays in the CAJUNDOME. That is the finest facility we have with a full time staff keeping it up.

Three weekends ago Gerald, myself, and another volunteer spent our weekend pressure washing the "pink" tunnel to Cajun Field. We came back & painted it (Gerald, myself, & another volunteer) the Wednesday before the A&T game. Gerald works his a-- off seven days a week with only donations & volunteers.

So instead of coming here & starting sh--, call Gerald & ask what you can do to help whatever program you wish.

Im not starting crap, your above statement still has not mentioned anything that was done for basketball. Just because the Cajundome is nice doesnt mean things cant be improved, the Tigue is very nice, Cajun Field is nice, all are nice, all could use fixing up as well. And its not just the facility they play in/at that you have to improve. There are many things that can be done to help the program. And like Turbine mentioned, what became of the meeting 2 years ago?? What all did yall do in the locker room?? and was it at the Cajundome or Athletic Complex? Im just looking for answer and results, so dont come in talkin all big and trying to start something that its not. Thats great that you painted the tunnel, we could use more people like you. Thats what is needed, more getting done and less talk about things that arent needed.
