WR problems

A thought just crossed my mind. This season, with the absense of Sampy and Stamps, we're looking very needy at WR. This made me think about the fact that we've been getting some good blue chip WR's, and their not panning out. Years in the system, and their still having problems running routes.

The best WR's we've had since bustle has been here have been Baldwin coached guys (stamps/sampy/bartel). Could these problems be attributed to coach Crist? Sampy and Stamps had already learned the art of route running under the old regime. I'm waiting to see our WR's achieve what I think they are capable. Im not saying thats the problem, just trying to figure out the problems their having right now.

I saw some pretty catches in the summer and at practice. I think they need reps.

Good route running is a must though, it will get you noticed, not only by your QB but the scouts.

I hear what your saying but if you look at it our top 2 WR are Cherry and Smith and both are true sophmores. Also Cory Frederick a JUCO transfer and Phillip Nevels a redshirt freshman. I think the WR's will be fine if were able to get the ball in their hands. I will be excited when we are finally able to get Cherry or Smith into space and watch them run.

I am with you the there! I remember during the State game when one of the WRs made a move that nearly broke the CB's ankle! I cant wait to see that during conference play.

Sorry guys, but please name me one "blue chip" receiver that we have ever recruited out of highschool? We have decent Sunbelt quality WR's but I think they all fall short of being dubbed "blue chips." Maybe potato chips!!! Geaux Cajuns!!

I don't think Tuffguy meant bluechip literally. We have gotten solid recruits at WR however with guys like Derrick Smith, Jason Cherry, Phillip Nevels, Jordan Jackson (I wish he would just live up to the potential), and Louis Lee...Cherry was offered by OK State, Smith by Wisconsin, Lee by Illinois...so you can see we have the talent that and although they aren't true "blue chip" recruits I think he just meant good recruits.

If only we could get a few passes off early in the game and spread out those defenses! If we're only completing about 12% of our passes they're gonna stack the box all night long

. We should run the ball right over these guys and get some confidence back in our o-line. You establish the run and that frees up your receivers. There is also nothing wrong with our receivers. Derek smith will be just as good as Sampy i promise you. And these are actually a receiving core as a group that can all catch. We havnot had that as of late. Chery will have some big plays this year. But we have to establish the run and that set up the play action. We wil be fine and these guys i think will be great once they all mature. they are still very young. I think the cajuns will roll these aggies up just as bad as we got rolled if not worse. But anyway Geaux Cajuns
