Former Acadiana High girls basketball star Vanity Ledet, who signed a national letter of intent with Southern Mississippi, has decided to leave the Golden Eagles' women's basketball program. Ledet, who earned Daily Advertiser/Coca-Cola All-Parish Most Valuable Player honors as a junior and senior, cited being too far away from home for her decision to come back to Lafayette. Vanity Ledet made a personal decision and while no one has to like it, everyone needs to respect it. The former Acadiana High Lady Rams basketball star and Southern Mississippi signee chose to leave the Lady Eagles' program before completing a semester in Hattiesburg to return to Lafayette where she is most comfortable. What's wrong with that? Despite what people may think, Ledet hasn't thrown her life away or blown a golden opportunity by returning home. Instead she has made her life easier to handle. No one deserves to be miserable and it wouldn't have done Ledet, her parents or the Lady Eagles a bit of good for her to stay at Southern Miss when she desperately wanted to come home.
