For many college football programs, the question of their "greatest game" guides conversations, sparks debate and stirs controversy.
For the Ragin' Cajuns, there is no such question about the biggest moment in Cajun Field history.
Ten years ago this week, the stars aligned for a heavy-underdog Cajun team that used three defensive touchdowns to beat 25th-ranked Texas A&M 29-22 in front of 38,783 fans, the most ever in the stadium.
Fast forward those 10 years, and UL's playing the Aggies again on Saturday. This time, it's on the road, which is where UL will play "name" opponents for the foreseeable future.
Over the last two decades, Alabama, Oklahoma State and Minnesota have joined the Aggies in making an appearance at Cajun Field. Now, given the current financial state of college athletics, Cajun fans waiting for similar upper-echelon programs to come to Acadiana may be in for a long wait.
It's a simple economic fact that big-time programs will play as many home games as possible, and the new 12-game schedule only contributes to that.
