Well, since I can't wait for the next UL game, thought I would get some info on Alcorn State for us to ponder with until Monday.

Lee Cook is their go to man. Being that he is 6-10, he will give a good match inside. This guy is also just a sophomore. Alcorn State also has 11 guys that play nine minutes are more, with the tenth guy averagin nearly 17 minutes, so they play alot of people.

Harris usually starts, but didn't for some reason.
they have a 6-10, 6-9 guy that comes off the bench also, so they have plenty of height. I am interested to see how good their big man is.
Don't forget this team was the 2002 SWAC champion last year. They were 20-9, 16-2 in SWAC play. They are picked by many to win it again this year. They have one of the best frontcourts in SWAC. They lost two talented big men from last year's team, and are waiting for Cook to develop into the player they thought he would be. But this might be his year. Jackson, Cable, and Harris balance it out outside. Not a bad team. We might be in for a better game than we thought if we are not prepared for these guys. Anyway, just my thoughts

It may come down to speed and defense. A win can't be taken for granted.

LAFAYETTE - Last Wednesday's UL basketball opponent entered that game with a 4-2 record, and the Ragin' Cajuns won by 60 points.

Tonight's Cajun foe is 1-6, and it's a guarantee that the 7:05 p.m. Cajundome battle with Alcorn State will be much closer.

The visiting Braves dropped a 74-67 decision to Jacksonville State Saturday night in their first home game of the season. Alcorn opened the season with six straight road battles and went 1-5, but all of them were against well-known opposition and three of the losses were by single digits.

The Braves showed their mettle in the season's third game, rolling to a 67-53 win at Texas-El Paso.

"We know we're going to be tested," said UL Lafayette head coach Jessie Evans. "They've got a strong perimeter game, and we've got to defend against the dribble penetration. We've really got to move and challenge the ball."

The Cajuns (2-2) had a strong defensive effort on Wednesday in the 117-57 blowout of Louisiana College in the home opener. The Cajuns held LC to only a 29.6 shooting mark in the first half in taking a 64-24 lead, and forced 29 turnovers while recording 16 steals. The hosts also had a huge 52-20 rebound margin.

LAFAYETTE - Anthony Johnson hadn't anticipated that Monday night's Louisiana-Alcorn State game would turn into a dunk-fest, but he wasn't disappointed.

His Ragin' Cajun squad forced 31 turnovers from the Braves, and Johnson converted a bunch of them into scintillating slams on the offensive end in leading the Cajuns to an easy 99-66 victory at the Cajundome.

"Coach told us to play the passing lanes," said Johnson, who hit on 11-of-15 shots in a game-high 24-point effort. "He said they (Alcorn) was capable of turning it over a lot, and that we'd be able to get something going."

The visiting Braves turned it over 10 times in the game's first eight minutes, and the game was basically decided before the third time-out of the first half when Immanuel Washington's dunk off a steal made it 31-14.

"Any time you cause turnovers, you're going to get odd-man situations," said Cajun head coach Jessie Evans. "We work on two-on-one, three-on-two situations almost every day."
