Track and Field Competes in Day One of the LSU Tiger Relays Cajuns advanced to finals in seven events as of 9:30 p.m. BATON ROUGE, La.-Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns men’s and women’s track and field teams competed in day one of the LSU Tiger Relays, advancing to Saturday’s finals in seven events as of 9:30 p.m. Friday. In women’s action, Kayla Vice finished third in the pole vault with at jump of 10-06.00 to advance. Quantisha Rambo advanced in the 100 meter hurdles after placing eighth with a time of 15.04 seconds. The UL women advanced in the 4X100 meter relay after finishing seventh with a time of 48.65 seconds. Lina Futi placed sixth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:07.70 to advance. Toni Lee and Latoya Celestine both advanced in the women’s long jump. Lee finished seventh with a jump of 18-11.75, while Celestine finished eighth with a jump of 18-10.75. In men’s action, Justin Arceneaux advanced to Saturday in the 100 meter dash after finishing in a three-way tie for sixth place. Arceneaux recorded a time of 10.75 seconds. Quenton Jones placed sixth in the men’s 400 meter hurdles with a time of 54.95 seconds to advance. Not all events were completed as of 9:30 p.m. Check the LSU Web site for further updates. LSU Tiger Relays BATON ROUGE, La.-Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns men’s and women’s track and field teams completed day two of the LSU Tiger Relays on Saturday, picking up several awards. The women’s squad placed first in section B of the 4X400 meter relay. The relay team finished with a time of 3:54.62, its best of the outdoor season. Stacey Enight finished second in section B of the women’s 1500 meter run, recording a time of 4:58.25. Casey Brown placed third in the 3000 meter steeplechase, recording a time of 11:42.59, while the 4X100 meter relay team placed fifth with a time of 47.59. The UL men finished second in section B of the 4X400 meter with a time of 3:14.15. The 4X100 meter relay team placed second with a time of 41.12 seconds, and the men’s 4X200 meter relay team placed third in the 4X200 meter relay, recording a time of 1:27.84. Chris Sandifer finished second in section B of the men’s 1500 meter run. Sandifer posted a time of 4:17.82. Justin Arceneux placed third in the 100 meter dash posting a time of 10.61 seconds, while Joseph Dickens finished third in the triple jump. Dickens recorded a jump of 48-08.00. This week, they stunk up the place and should sit for the coming weekend instead of wasting $$ to go to the Texas Relays. They would not have won the parish meet back at ul.

And speaking of this weekend, had points been kept at LSU, here is how the teasm would have finished. Keep in mind that teams from north of I-10 did not bring full teams while the Cajuns ran almost everyone they had in the meet.... save a hurdler and sprinter.

At least it wasn't 3 points for the women and 25 points for the guys, like in the conference indoors.

you guys can complain about how poorly the track team is but the bottom line is no one cares!!!! no one in the admin gives a rats ass about them. they do not even have a fax machine in the track office. the university runs the track program on a smaller budget than STM does. so quit complaining.

oh! by the way, SLU is the second best track program in the region aside from a few sec shools. and they do it in the field just like we used to. we are working with a $0 budget. combined our coaches are paid under 70,000. our last two womens coaches left to go work elswhere because the high schools could pay more than we did.

so everyone can get off the coaches ass about how we suck. they do what they can. maybe they are not the right people but they do work hard at their job. what lancon accomplished was a miracle and i doubt that there is anyone esle who could get the team to perform the way we did in the early 90s. and that was with a lot of spriters who were not even americans.

i hate seeing the program fall to where its currently at but until we get an AD and a pres who understands how to fully fund all athletics then it will be much of the same.

The only thing that sort of troubled me was the missed recruiting opportunity during the season when the track and field team had no track to call their own.

I see how that reads and let me explain. The year the new track was going up should have been the golden era in UL recruiting. No track of our own but a new track coming allows the recruits to imagine anything under the sun.

Just like football right now, the recruiting tool known as the indoor practice facility will never be as good a recruiting tool as it is right now. There is no recruiting tool as good as a person’s imagination.

I read once where not having a track for a year hurt recruiting. If true I think it a missed opportunity.

they have been using "we will have a new track" for over 10 years and the area coaches know this.

other programs in the state care about track and will continue to kick our butss. they are Northwestern, La Tech, SLU and LSU.

AUSTIN, Texas- Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns track and field teams competed in one event in day one of the Texas Relays. Senior D.J. Hebert placed sixth in the men’s 3000 meter steeplechase. AUSTIN, Texas- Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns men’s track and field team competed in four preliminary events in the Texas Relays in Friday. Freshman Justin Arceneaux finished sixth in heat four of the 100 meter dash preliminaries, recording a time of 10.62 seconds. Arceneaux placed 23rd overall out of 54 competitors. In the men’s 110 meter hurdles preliminaries, Kyle Ward placed third in heat five, posting a time of14.62 seconds. Ward finished 36th overall. The event consisted of 45 competitors. The UL men’s 4X100 meter relay team finished fifth in heat four of the preliminaries, recording a time of 41.43 seconds. The team finished 15th overall. The 4X400 meter relay team posted a time of 3:16.87. The time was good enough for a fifth place finish in heat two. The team finished 27th overall. The Texas Relays conclude Saturday, April 7. NATCHITOCHES, La.-Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns track and field teams competed in the NSU Invitational on Saturday. Finishing sixth in their division. For the UL men, Kyle Ward had the best finish of the day. The junior placed first in the 110 meter hurdles, recording a time of 14.46 seconds. Luke Moody finished fourth with a time of 14.81 seconds. Joseph Dickens recorded a second place finish in the triple jump. Dickens had a jump of 48-4 ¾. Jordon Folse placed third in the men’s shot put, followed by Brad Bustle, who placed fourth. Folse recorded a distance of 41-9 3/4, while Bustle recorded a distance of 39-9 3/4. Qeunton Jones placed fifth in the 400 meter hurdles. Jones recorded a time of 56.86 seconds. Herman Clark also competed in the event. The UL Ragin' Cajun men captured a third place finish in the 4X100 meter relay with a time of 42.67 seconds.
