Think of Texas A&M: they have 5 yell leaders (3 seniors & 2 juniors) and Reveille, a Collie who roams Kyle Field. Becoming a yell leader is a HUGE honor, I would know as many of my family members are Aggies. The yell leaders lead Reveille out of the tunnel and onto the field to start the game. Reveille is the "icon" and what people think of when thinking of the mascot of A&M, but the yell leaders are the "spirit leaders" and get the "12th Man" fired up on gameday.
Just throwing this into the mix:
According to that definitive source Wikipedia, Centenary chose the Catahoula Cur as its mascot in 2007

Ahhh summer time........and a mascot thread
time for the season to start
Yeah, everyone should have the tradition of drunks throwing beer bottles at opponents buses or cursing or throwing stuff on their fans. They need to get with the program.
When one team does it to another, it could be intimidation. When one fan does it to another it's just being a d*&$@bag ... but I suspect any tradition would be better than a very public inability to cross a midfiield stripe.
Here are a few more of those beloved LSUA&M@BR traditions:

I see some parallels between A&M and UL. The Aggies? Do they have someone dressed as an "Aggie"? No. Do we need someone dressed as a "Cajun"? No. A&M has a dog. We have some strong support (and a past tradition) for a dog. I think it makes a lot of sense to look at the A&M model for us. Not a copy, but some similar things. Worth looking seriously into, IMHO.
