I don't think bending over like that before a game is such a good idea. Its kinda makes one wonder what they are getting ready to do. JMO
It has been cleared up, Centenary has the Catahoula hounds, and TooLame the pelican known as Riptide.
Now I do not like the idea of having gators with UL but no Louisiana animal, pelican, hound, or gator, is unique within the state as mascots or spirit leaders. I sure have a problems with sharing a new spirit leader with other Louisiana schools. The biggest problem with the gator mascot is perception. We had the first "Swamp" and UF gets credit for that. We would have the second gator, and look like we are copying UF. With regards to spirit leader, mascots, UNO uses a gator as well so we now have three Louisiana schools using the big three animals of Louisiana.
The Mardi Gras Capitians are are a local tradition, not state wide, in fact Mardi Gras is not state wide, and not unique to Louisiana as Mobile had the first Mardi Gras celebration as we know it today in the US. To me the spirt leader has to say LOUISIANA. Which Mardi Gras is more accepted than the New Orleans Mardi Gras in the US? None, not even close. So I vote no to Capitains.
Back to the big three, and I take the Catahoula Hound in spit of Centenary. No Cajun man in shrimp boots, God no white boots, and coverals above all else.
I asked Troy Landry where we could get a gator that looked like Turbine's Bullgator. He said if he catches Godzilla's nasty uncle and we feed him Cayenne, we'd get the redness we want. He said if we fed him our band's flag's velvet uniforms he'd get that permanent scowl. He said that if we let him spend the night with Mike the Tiger, the tiger would be no more, and Bullgator would walk out of "the habitat" on his hind legs the next morning, and strike that pose.
Touche'.
