The ONLYproblem with the Catahoula Hound is this. . .
Not in 100 years would someone see a "picture" of one and think UL. Beyond that only a very few even think State of LA.
No/low mileage potential.

Well Trub we have a cartoon gator, or a pack of live hounds taking down real opponents in a prepared video for the home crowd to go into a frenzy.
In any case none will be the red blob of WKU so success is the thing that make it a national icon.
It would be a vivid video.
Turb, when I say real opponents I am not thinking we take a couple of their players and throw them to the hounds, but characters dressed in oppoents uniforms. I have read of the UF pre game video where a buch of gators swarm out of a pond and create havoc on opponents. That is clearly a high tech cartoon, but you never know about those guys in Florida. lol
The 900 pound gorilla in the room is the rejection of @LAFAYETTE and the branding of LOUISIANA. They need to give people what they want.
I see some absurd interpretations of UL apparel in stores, most notably discount stores, including mustard yellow shirts.
Sales are probably bad and they need to provide people things they are likely to buy and want to associate themselves with.
What about a crawfish? It would look good on merchandise, people would associate Louisiana with it, and its never been done before (to my knowledge). As for the mascot, why not due like A&M and have a type of yell leader, overalls possibly some shrimp boots or just get Troy Landry as someone else mentioned lol.
Oh and if yall are worried about someone already having a mascot like ours i.e. Gator, wouldn't having a dog be like Georgia?
