Let’s fix the forfeits in the next media guide.
Texas Tech offered (the NCAA accepted) to forfeit the football wins vs UL from the 1994 and 1996 seasons. They used ineligable players.
http://football.stassen.com knows it. LINK (though they still don't know when the program started)
UL has played in 969 football games and has 457 wins.
If there has been more attention given to ULAthletics a decade ago we might have be able to get to 500 wins before we play our 1000th game at the midway point of the 2008 season, but it's to late for that, it's not going to happen.
Still, lets track it! Bowl games will throw off the total game count but if possible we should make a note and promote the 1000th game when it happens. NOTE TO Athletic Director; Try to make game 1000 a home game.
As is if we claim the forfeited games like other colleges do, the earliest (unrealistic going undefeated) timetable to 500 wins would be sometime in 2009.
Right now without the forfeits (that UL deserves) the school has 457 wins. If we can find a way to average 8 wins a year we would get to 500 the 3rd game of 2011.
If UL averages 7 wins a year the first chance at the 500th win would come in the 1st game of the 2012 season.
In the mean time I know where we can get 2 wins right now.
