UL Football Some more names and questions?

That's some great insight into the RB situation, thanks! What does is the outlook at the wide reciever position? Other than Jackson is Bustle recruiting Kentrell Gransbury, Kenneth Guidroz, Vinnie Navarre, Justin Plummer or Devondric Tezeno?

It sounds like Bustle has got some pretty good guys at DE, a position I thought the Cajuns were already pretty deep at. Is Bustle recruiting either Josh Muse or Antron Dillion? How about DT's, is he after DJ Ernst or Jonathan Landor? Thanks in advance for any information you can provide.

Well things can change, but I wouldn't be surprised to see coach sign several WR's.One kid to watch for is Jon Holland from Mangum High.UL is on his list to visit and just recently visited Ok.St.He is a typical Bustle recruit,a diamond in the rough so to speak. He's 6-1,190 with 4.5 forty speed. Not many people have heard of him. Some of the kids you mentioned are waiting on test scores and a few of them are waiting on offers from larger schools.Gransbury is an excellent basketball player and that's were he may end up.

Jonathan Landor was supposed to visit UL,I don't know if he did yet or not.HE is a solid prospect.Muse is an interesting case,he is much like Ryan Willis that signed with LSU.Willis had to wait until some recruits LSU were waiting on committed elsewhere.I know Muse was supposed to visit S.Miss and Tech, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him wait until LSU might offer him when they loose out one another prospect.

Hey guys, let's start a new thread for high school recruits. The big ragoo gets confused at times.

Guru, you're right about Knockum, he might be a fullback too.

  4. Default Juco wide receiver inks with Cajun football

    Advertiser-Dan McDonald Posted on January 12, 2003

LAFAYETTE - Louisiana's football program added its first wide receiver prospect of the recruiting period this week with the signing of Kemmie Lewis of Jones (Miss.) Junior College.

Lewis, a 6-foot-2, 190-pounder, is the fourth junior college signee for the Ragin' Cajun squad and the third that will enroll at the university this spring in time for spring practice.

"That'll help me get to know the offense really well," said Lewis, an honorable mention NJCAA Region 23 selection. "I'll be learning the players and the plays."

Lewis joins defensive tackle Darryl Blappert of Slidell-St. Amant (Pearl River) and defensive back Ricky Thomas of Junction City, Kan.-Junction City (Butler CC) as mid-term juco signees.

The Cajuns have also inked defensive back Antoine Spann of Oceanside, Calif.-El Camino (Miss. Gulf Coast), who will enroll in the fall. Spann was the Most Valuable Defensive Player in Mississippi's junior college all-star game two weeks ago.

    The rest of the story

Mangum High? I grew up & played high school football in NE Louisiana. They used to kick our butts every year. Always had a well coached and good team but then again that was a long time ago

From talking with coach Jenkins the RB/FB coach, I have been told that Anthony Prater has the potential to be the best FB to ever come through this school. He is big and strong at 6'1 230 as a RS Fr, Jenkins has him labled as the starter, so look for big things from this kid cause he is big and very athletic. He played QB in High School in Texas.

    UL Football HighSchool Recruiting Update

There is some news coming out of Baton Rouge on several prospects the Cajuns are recuiting.Newman QB Damion Carter has committed to S.Miss last week.It seems that commitment is solid. It seems that a few things may change for prospects from O.P.Walker.DB Daryl Johnson and DL Domminc Cooper may head to Baton Rouge as well soon.Rumor has it that coach Sabin will offer O.P.Walker head coach a position on his staff. If this does indeed hold true, look for those prospects to follow their coach to Baton Rouge. Now that Chijuan Mack is eligible, more schools are taking notice.Okla.St. was at Woodlawn Monday to talk to Mack.LSU has told Mack that if several prospects that they are offering commit elsewhere, they are going to offer him also.Stay tuned,it looks like some of these decisions will come down to the wire.Tasmin Knockum is scheduled to visit next week.

Several other Louisiana prospects to mention are DL Jason Banks 6-3,285 from McKinley High in Baton Rouge.Banks has been offered by the Cajuns, but no word yet on his decision.Jason Lewis 6-3,307 OL from St.James and Bradley Thompson 6-2,190 DB from Plaquamine High both want to visit the Cajuns, but I don't think neither have their test scores yet.We should hear some news soon on a few commitments. Also, look for some recruits at Saturday's Basketball game.

Exactly! UL doesn't need players from any specific location. We just need PLAYERS! Period.

It's nice to have a lot of local talent, but if you rely exclusively on that, you are limiting your potential talent pool.

You need to get those other players from out of state just for the simple reason of getting the word out about your program. These kids go home during the break and talk to their friends.

    See where I'm heading??
