Thread: The Book: 2002-03 Louisiana Football season

  1. #409

    Default

I think the game ball should go to the defense. This is the first game that we put pressure on the quarterback. We did not allow him time to throw the ball. I think that made all the difference.

  2. #410

Default Turbine, you were right. CFP 11/10/02

UL breaks into the top 100

    CollegeFootballPoll.com Rankings for 11/10/02

    Sun Belt Conference Teams

    066 New Mexico St.
    069 North Texas
    092 Middle Tennessee
    095 Louisiana
    098 Arkansas St.
    108 Idaho
    112 ULM

Notice we have lost to the three SBC teams above us and have defeated 2 of the 3 below us. Hopefully, we will add ULM to the defeated list and finish conference play 3-3.

  3. Default Fumble

It was clear last night, after watching a replay on Channel 3, that it was a fumble. They have a great angle of the play from the back of the endzone directly behind the QB. Even without the replay everyone in the stadium knew it was a fumble. VERY BAD CALL!

  4. Default

You can tell by the ref walking down the line that at no time did he have a clue what happened to the ball.

  5. Default Cajuns rally for second straight week, down Indians

    Advertisers-Bruce Brown

LAFAYETTE - Rickey Bustle has a fleck or two of gray hair these days, and at the rate his team is going that number is sure to grow.

But at least the results are getting better.

UL Lafayette spotted the Arkansas State Indians a 10-0 lead, then rallied for a 13-10 victory before 14,117 fans at Cajun Field on Saturday. It was the second comeback win in a row for the Ragin' Cajuns, on the heels of a 31-28 triumph over Idaho.

"These guys are about to kill me," Bustle said good-naturedly. "I've got a lot more gray hairs on my head than I need."

Freshman Sean Comiskey provided the winning margin with a career-long 49-yard field goal with 10:28 to play. It was his 39-yarder that tied it at 10-10 2:15 before halftime.

"I was nervous, but I'm the same before every kick," Comiskey said. "My mouth was dry, and I was a little shakey. I've never kicked the ball that far before. I get an adrenalin rush in games. I knew it was good when I hit it.

"My philosophy is, never leave it short."

"It was a great kick," Bustle said. "He hit a heck of a ball.

"I'm probably the worst coach in America with kickers, because I treat them like everybody else. But I pulled him aside earlier this week and told him that we believed in him."

The adrenalin rush went to Comiskey's head, as he celebrated the kick like a Gramatica brother.

"I'm sorry if I offended anyone with that," he said. "I didn't know I was jumping like that.

    The rest of the story

  6. Default Celebrate winning record at home with Rod Stewart

Winning programs have one thing in common. They have traditions of winning. The thing to remember is that all winning programs had to start somewhere.

The winning ways have been established with the first step of a winning record at home for 2002.

It sure is nice to experience winning at home. Money and time well spent. All I can say is "oooh LALà

Below is a celebratory song for coach Bustle and his squad’s accomplishments at home for 2002.

  7. Default Louisiana averages 15,000 for the 2002 season

The groundwork has been laid for 2004. UL averages over 15,000 for its 5 home games of 2002, 2 years in advance of the NCAA mandate.

The encourageing thing is only one game happened on a non rainy day. Although it was severly overcast.

    Next year 17,000

  8. Default

I had to go back to my truck for a wide angle lens, and on my way back I was surprised by the large number of fans still piling in.

At this point the score was 10-0 in favor of ASU but the fans were not dismayed.

I counted over 50 in line to purchase tickets at this one gate to the left and rear. Similar numbers at all5 gates.

  9. Default

A different cannon, a different year.

    Still Tradition.

  10. Default

From the student side. Notice the cannon in the corner
