Join former Ragin’ Cajun Chris Gannon on Nov. 2 as he leads this year’s Homecoming parade as parade marshal. Gannon was a one-man wrecking crew for the Ragin’ Cajuns defense from 1985-88. He ranks third all-time in school history in sacks, while placing fifth all-time in tackles by a lineman. Gannon, a two-time All-South Conference and All-Louisiana selection, was honorable mention All-America following his senior season in 1988.
He was taken in the third round of the 1989 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots. He played five seasons in the NFL with the Patriots and San Diego Chargers. After his professional career, he returned to the University, first as a graduate assistant football coach, then being named the school’s strength and conditioning coach in 1997.
