Hearing set for LPD officer lawsuit against LPD and LCG

Five Lafayette police officers are alleging corruption, racial discrimination and the fear of physical retaliation, against Lafayette Consolidated Government and high ranking officers at the Lafayette police department. A hearing is set for May 29 to decide if a temporary restraining order will be granted to the five police officers. The officers' legal counsel Stanley Spring says more officers will be joining the case.
In addition the officers are filing for a preliminary and final injunction dealing with an irregular internal investigation. The officers say that they are also afraid of being shot or physically assaulted because of threats made by their superiors. The restraining order and law suit were filed against Lafayette Police Chief Jim Craft, Major George "Jackie" Alfred, Lafayette Consolidated Government and CAO Dee Stanley.
We reached out to the Lafayette police department and Lafayette Consolidated Government who say they can not comment on the on-going investigations.
