An already depleted UL offensive line became even thinner over the weekend.
Redshirt freshman tackle Kyle Pirtle of Lafayette High had an emergency appendectomy Saturday night, and will be out of action for the Cajuns' road games at LSU and Texas A&M.
"We know we'll get him back," said Cajun coach Rickey Bustle. "He'll probably be back after those two games."
UL has an open date after its Sept. 9 road game at A&M, returning to action in its home opener Sept. 23 against North Carolina A&T.
The unit lost one returning starter prior to fall camp when guard Will Chance of Cecilia suffered an ankle injury while jogging and had surgery the following week.
