The Ragin'Cajuns passed the sniff test, so again I ask this simple question. Would ASU prefer to be playing Mizzou this Thursday? Was LSU glad they went to College Station instead of Lafayette last week? I think anyone who follows softball, understands the history of this program, and the team this season would say Mizzou, and yes LSU was only to happy to get to College Station instead of Lafayette.
Last year in football the Sniff test said Bama needed a second chance even before OSU blew it's game at Iowa State. It is good to be Bama because if you pass the sniff test, then the powers that be will make sure you get a pass. They are also lucky because had OSU been OU they would not have gotten the pass, because you see OU also gets passes.
Good piece, Kevin. You nailed it.
Well, maybe we (UL) don't have the stroke to get things changed ... but I bet if we go and beat ASU, THEY will cause an uproar that will get noticed!
Let's do it.
GEAUX CAJUNS!
So VO we need to kick the door in every year, we will never be given any respect until we tare it out of their cold dead hands.
Yesterday I heard something that really upset me. Farmer, according to Jay Walker, felt we were properly seeded. Some of the criteria, ie excuses used, were lack of numerous games against the elite programs, and one bad loss. Yes we had one bad loss, and that loss to ULM whose UPI ended up 131, and ASU had a loss against McNeese who ended up 108. Not a lot of wiggle room there. So checking out TAMU and they have a loss against no. 98 New Mexico. Now 108 and 98 are better than 131 but not much. As you move into those numbers the percentage difference drops a lot. .
I guess if we had enough money to go on the road for another nine games and we took 6/3 from top fifteen programs there would be some other excuse to not properly seed little old UL. You know we lost 7 games then instead of 4 game. By the way ULM beat McNeese, just saying.
Did Kevin Foote write that article? It was spot on. Our softball program seeding issue is a microcosm of the larger issue going on with the super conferences... the already chosen preorchestrated preordained preferrential programs... having drawn the lines in the sand long ago... but now demanding that a wall be erected to keep the underfunded out of the game.
The NCAA is a farce. Our softball program is an anomaly (already having survived one attempt at eradication). I would love to see us snag a national championship... in this day and age of "I'm sorry, you aren't wearing the right arm patch to enter" collegiate athletic system we endure.
Kevin identifies a "double penalty" situation with softball. If you pan out and look at the entire D1 athletics system, there are triple and quadruple penalties in almost all "seeding, ranking, rating" systems these days. If anything, I would like to see a preorchestrated "Cinderella" handicap imposed in all D1 sports. How about that? If you do something noteworthy in competition, head to head with the "super conference" programs... you get a multiplier effect come tourney time.
It makes about as much logical sense to actually increase the seed of a non super conference team as it does to keep allowing the double, triple and more multiplicative effect of not being a preselected super conference team. They don't want Cinderella to win any more in this country. They've (media, NCAA, mass ignorant) gotten to where they are rooting for her ugly immoral preselected sisters. That is a sad change from the original greatness in America.
Geaux Cajuns! Beat ASU!!!
I'd be pretty disappointed in Scott if he believed the 14 seed is correct. 4 losses in over 50 games... come on man... "14"... nonsense. We are only talking about moving up in the 11 to 12 seed range. You cannot tell me that UL wasn't an 11 or 12. And that seed difference is massive. I totally disagree that UL, both in this year's results, and past pedigree, should not be capable of validating an 11 or 12 this year. The "14" is further proof that the "double penalty" is in effect.
If anything... and I'm not necessarily believing he's hunting for a better position in the bigger conferences by kowtowing to this seeding system... I think being the chairman, he can't throw a fit or get too publicly vocal about UL's specific position.
We all know the issues... our next mission is to stomp the devil out of ASU.
I agree, they got it very wrong.
This off limits non mention territory is another example of a double whammy penalty.
The well known conferences don't need a committee mention as they get publicized all year, but when it comes time to give every team getting a consideration an equal footing opportunity, the gag rule comes into effect, which virtually locks in preseason perception.
No, they won't cause any kind of uproar. As the #7 team IN AMERICA a few years ago, we were sent to Arizona as the NUMBER 5 SEED in an 8 TEAM regional.
Read that again if you weren't following the program then. We weren't even seeded in the top HALF of the country, even though we were ranked in the top 10.
What happened? The NUMBER 5 REGIONAL SEED shocked AZ and everyone else. Won the whole cotton - picken thing and went to the College World Series. Uproar? Hardly. Nobody gives a crap outside of Lafayette, and that's a shame.
With all that said, I expect the Cajuns to win easily this Thursday and Friday. Maybe I'm losing my mind. But this isn't even going to be close.
Hey he told this to Jay Walker not me. He does not need to throw a fit to say I would have been more comfortable at one or two seeds better, but bla, bla, bla. No he said they got it RIGHT. His motivation is my speculation. If he thinks they got it right I question his intellect. I have quit giving him a pass, he is a proven liar, he has contradicted himself multiple times about he CUSA issue, and is not smart enough to quit lying. Why should I believe him on this issue, or his motivation.
