The driver of the 18-wheeler that traveled the wrong way on I-10 Eastbound is behind bars.
Sixty-two-year-old Marshall Smith is charged with DWI, reckless operation, aggravated flight, and four counts of hit and run.
Troopers say Marshall drove the whole length of the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge the wrong way, getting on at Mile Marker 135 in Ramah. Both Louisiana State Police Troop A from Baton Rouge and Louisiana State Police Troop I from Lafayette were dispatched to I-10, catching up with Marshall at mile post 117.
Spike strips were deployed, and Marshall's 18-wheeler was successfully stopped near mile post 110 near Breaux Bridge.
