A writer at The Rayne Independent is grabbing the national spotlight, and now is without a job.
"I embarrassed the news paper I work for, I embarrassed myself, I embarrassed my family. I did not ever, and this is honest, I never meant for this to happen," said sportswriter Kade Seibold.
Seibold has been working for the paper since last August. His heart dropped when he saw what was printed.
"But it's just something you don't do, and i did it and i didn't do it on purpose," said Seibold. "It was completely on accident and I do not know how it slipped through our editors hands, our GM's hands, it just did."
The article highlighted several of Rayne High School's softball players. Including Hailey Habetz, whose lack of available stats sparked Seibold to write his frustration, crudely, toward the women's coach.
"I never wanted this to be released. I don't feel that way about Coach Dunn. I don't feel that way about any coach," said Seibold.
Now the article and Seibold are receiving national attention.
"Sports bloggers, sports writers telling me that I'm their hero because I printed something that they've always wanted to print," said Seibold.
He says he is taking full responsibility for the mistake, a mistake he wishes never happened.
"I called the coach, apologized to her. She was receptive of my call and did accept my apology," said Seibold. "I'm grateful for that."
Siebold is hoping after everything, he can get his job back
"I really am remorseful for what I did to both Coach Dunn, Rayne High School and my family at home, and at my former job," said Seibold.
