Sheriff's deputy resigns after DWI

JENNINGS, La. (AP) - A Jefferson Davis Parish sheriff's deputy has resigned after he was arrested on a driving while intoxicated charge by Jennings police.

The American Press reports 25-year-old Ryan Gary, who had been with the department for nearly five years, was off-duty and driving a personal vehicle at the time.

Gary was booked with DWI and careless operation after a traffic stop at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday.

Officials say he was booked into the city jail and was later released.

Gary, who resigned Monday, had worked in corrections for the sheriff's office.
