For the University of Louisiana football team, it's almost like game week ... only without the game.
The Ragin' Cajuns return to the practice field today after a one-day hiatus, and will work out only once daily through the remainder of the week with the onset of classes for the university's fall semester.
On Saturday, when there would normally be a game, the squad will hold a scripted morning scrimmage to go through special team and other game situations. After that, the Cajuns will move into regular game-week preparations for the Sept. 2 opener at LSU.
The Cajuns had a "vacation" from football Monday on the first day of the semester.
"We wanted to give them plenty time to get the semester off on the right foot," said Cajun coach Rickey Bustle. "It just makes it easier for those who have to rearrange classes and take care of other things."
