Thread: Suddenly Hot Cajuns Hit the Ragin Road (game cancelled)

  1. Default Suddenly Hot Cajuns Hit the Ragin Road (game cancelled)

The week's most-important games for the UL baseball team, by far, come later, when ULM visits Thursday through Saturday in a final Sun Belt Conference series that will determine whether the Ragin' Cajuns qualify for the league's postseason tournament

NOT time for Robe to go. He has proven himself and is committed to this program. He has a very young team and I expect big things in the next couple of years... This was obviously a rebuilding year. I see lost of raw talent...

I think the main problem has been the turnover in the asst. coach position the last few years with changes in philosophy and loss of recruiting continutity. To a certain extent this turnover is beyond his control because of the very little money available for Coach Robe to pay his assistants.

I really do hope they make the conference tournament, mainly for the invaluable experience of post-season play. They do control their own destiny. It is in front of them. They will win tie-breakers vs. ULM (with a series win - won't come into play), MT, and WKU.

Cajundiehard..... I understand where you are coming from. However, it seems like year in and year out for the past 5 years or so they have been so inconsistent. Hitting has been killing us. Beside Fontennot last year, when has any other player hit consistently?

I do also, but we all know if he would be at a "higher profile" instituition. what the the situation would be.

I don't know? I know he is the highest paid coach in the SBC and has not won a tournament in over a decade, I know we had teams as good as his teams have been except for the 1998,99, and 2000 teams. From that height we have in fact trended downward.

Not saying Robe should go, just saying that he IS NOT UL Baseball, there can be excellent ball after he leaves, and I expect us to be better than we are right now. Maybe we never get as good as we were those three years, but we can be a lot closer to those three years than to what we are now with or without Robe.

Some here forget, and some never heard of the conversation told to us by a young woman working in the baseball office. Soon after Robe got to the CWS he was having a conversation with the Fossil, and he said his goal was to bring this team there often, and the fossile pretty much shut him down on that. She relayed that conversation to the RP, and I believe the Dephi board. She was soon let go for obvious reasons.

Robe has been a great soldier for UL and people should not want him to fail and call for his being fired so quick. He was Hud, and the Lotiefs in his early days, he has taken big hits by this university. I am surprised he has any fire left in him.

So the regular season titles in 2005, 2007, 2010 don't mean anything?

His comment was straight to the point last night. Paraphrasing "when you have a team across the street hosting a regional and playing for a super-regional and you're fighting to get into the conference tournament on the same weekend, that is unacceptable"

Wcd35..... Agreed. I am glad he made that comment. It is better than him making excuses like he usually does. Shows he still has fight.
