Thread: Babb and Brandon already drawing draft notice

  1. UL Football Babb and Brandon already drawing draft notice

They haven't played a game in their senior season yet, but Jerry Babb and Brandon Cox are already being listed as NFL draft possibilities by onenational draft service.

The Great Blue North Draft Report (www.gbnreport.com) lists the UL pair in its rankings of quarterbacks and offensive tackles. Both are ranked number 19 out of the top 20 prospects heading into next April¹s draft.

The report lists the top 20 draft prospects at each position, and the Cajuns will be facing many of the players on that list during the upcoming season.

In fact, seven of those players will line up against the Cajun squad in the opening week when UL travels to meet LSU Sept. 2.

The backup QB here is a better runner than Babb, but not nearly as good a passer. In the NFL, passing is more important. It is not Cajun fans who put that rating out. It was put out by folks who make their living making draft projections.

Never said anything about who wrote it. I was just making an observation. I Saw Babb play before He got hurt last year, and I saw the potential of the other guy, and how quik he picked up the offence. I Don't think Babb is a very good QB prospect for the NFL. Look let's just compare him to Jake D. Jake put up all kinds of freaky numbers while at UL, and we know how much of a prospect he was in the Pro's. But I've heard that Babb has some records in sight, but he can't hold a candle to Jake. So in my twisted mind, he doesn't have a chance at the league.

Babb is the most consistent passer in Cajun history. He has the best passing completion percentage, even better than Jake. Yes he got hurt last season but he knows the offense and the option VERY well and he runs far better than most give him credit for. Yes Desormeaux is great too though. While Desormeaux picked up quick and made big plays for us last year look how often he passed the ball. Even when he did it was screens and or quick outs. Babb can hurl it down the field accurately. He might not have all the numbers that Jake had, but Jake had Stokley. The only really consistent reciever Babb had was Sampy. Babb has been around more of a running game in the recent past. Just keep and eye on him this year, I think you will be surprised at the passing talent we posses this time around. I can definately see Babb in the pros one day

Top 10 quarterbacks you haven`t heard of

    4. Michael Desormeaux and Jerry Babb, University of Louisiana : The Ragin’ Cajuns are the Sun Belt favorites largely because of their ground game, which pummeled opponents for 254 rushing yards per game last year. While the aerial attack isn’t overly threatening, the team’s double-headed quarterback is a huge cog in that vaunted ground attack.

Desormeaux is seen as the running specialist, picking up 487 yards on the ground last year in limited time. It’s Babb, however, who`s turning the heads of pro scouts with his combination of arm strength and mobility. The Great Blue North Draft Report recently ranked Babb as the No. 19 draft prospect at quarterback.

I've never found fftoolbx to be incredibly reliable. However, they think VERY highly of Babb. Y'all might have already seen this article, but none the less, it always feels good to read. Check it out.

You are full of ____ Kracka, just like all those other LSU bandwagon fans that now see just how great Jake is/was. The truth is no one thought of JAke as a pro prospect going into his senior year either, and most LSU fans had never heard of him. Too busy talking about Jamie Howard's prospects probably.

You guys seem to have several very good QB's also and the best one(most talented) may not be your starter, he is not playing due to J Russell has the time and experience.

    DaddyCajun

ps And hopefully our team has improved since the last game as we all know the tigers have, and we give you all a better game of it! I will have to watch it on Tiger Vision due to work! I will record the game, and hopefully it is not all LSU highlights unless that is they are actually lowlights in TigerFansEyes!!!

Michael Desormeaux is a sophmore backup QB. To make comparisons to Babb's play over his career, and Desormeaux's stint at QB, might I add as a reshirt freshman, who was simply thrown into the picture because of an injury, is absurd. I mean come on no he wasn't starting his first game in some conference championship, but he made strides and improved game in and game out. Honestly, with his stats, yeah he's decent, but with 20 td and 23 ints. (and maybe he hasn't had great WR's over his time here) over a 3 yr. career where your job was given on a silver platter, does not bode well for his stock.
