Thread: Cajuns Men's Track Finishes Second at SBC Track Championships

  1. Default Cajuns Men's Track Finishes Second at SBC Track Championships

The Ragin’ Cajuns men’s track and field team led for much of the third day but ultimately couldn’t hold off a late surge by Western Kentucky as UL finished second at the 2012 Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the Ragin’ Cajuns Track/Soccer Facility.

    Homes SO Clean

This is just his first year here. What he did for T&F is not unlike what Coach Hud did for football. Outstanding!

A great track program is part of the soul of this university.

It's really great to see things reverting to the way they should be.

    No kidding.

Some of my fondest memories as a student were watching Conway and Guidry High Jump and Labbe run.

Matt, it isn't quite turned around yet, but it is getting there. We are still weak in some traditionally strong events here [notably discus, javelin and hurdles], and we did not score a point on the track in any individual event longer than 200 meters. We benefited this year from a very balanced league, as well. Our jumpers and vaulters did very well, and Justin Jones really stepped up big in the short sprints. I look for us to add some good throwers and at least one more good vaulter, and I hope we can get some good long sprinters/short distance guys. Virtually all the 3000 meter and up events are dominated by foreign runners, but we ought to be able to score in the 400, 800 and 1500 meter events..

"Head coach Lon Badeaux was honored as the Men’s Track and Field Coach of the Year after his team had its highest finish in the conference meet since UL won it in 1997. UL’s Devin Davis also received 2012 Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships honors as he was named the Men’s Most Outstanding Freshman."

Congratulations to coach Lon Badeaux! Sun Belt Conference Track and Field Coach of the Year! Congratulations to the Ragin' Cajuns track and field athletes on leading UL to it's highest SBC finish since 1997. A great accomplishment indeed! All of this done in Lon's first year as head coach!
    Way to go Cajuns!
