Gators will do fine with Chris Leak. He is not a problem, but OL potentially is. Leak is one of the most prolific passers in Gator history. Meyer adjusted the system to fit Leak more during bye week before Georgia game last year and it worked. Gators are inexperienced in OL and secondary so probably will lose 2 or 3 again.

The SEC defense speed argument is overblown in my opinion. Spurrier did just fine with an offense that relied on speed and spreading the defense, leaving little protection for the qb. SEC offenses can be fast too. Gators have a very deep WR corps this year, including return of Caldwell (who was injured most of last year and which was the biggest problem for Meyer) and also two very talented true freshmen that may see significant time. Last year the WR corps were just not good enough for Gators once Caldwell went down. The OL was bad and the rbs were not consistent.

Tebowe is ready to play now and if Meyer thought Leak is not a fit for his system, then Tebowe would start because he already is ready to start at high level. But Leak is NFL ready and is one of the best qbs in the country.

I agree with you but Tebowe is what you think of when you think of a spread option offense. Leak is a great QB I will never doubt that but this offense was made for Tebowe.

I agree that Tebowe is definitely the better fit for the future. I think the problems Gators had last year were not Leak though, but were OL, WR, RB. Most of all, the Gators coaching staff, not only Meyer but all his assistants, is too young and inexperienced and it showed last year. Not allowing Spurrier to come back, due to egos of administration and most importantly the President being former head of Utah who hired Meyer, was a big mistake. But Meyer may get Gators back to national title competitor eventually. He is a young coach that has been very successful, but he is no Spurrier.
