Tre Green, Bastrop (6-1, 185, Sr.): is considered by many to be the top defensive player in the state for District 1-4A.
Tre Green was named as an ALL-AMERICAN by Speed & Strength Magazine. Green earned the award with his performance at the Central Louisiana Combine, held last fall at Bolton High School in Alexandria.
Before the season started Tre made the move to the defensive backfield from linebacker because of his quick feet. That move looked in doubt early when a strained hamstring held him out of the Jamboree game. The good news was that even if slowed a bit, Tre Green was able to start the season.
As the 2002 season transpired he ended up doing double duty, playing Linebacker and Strong Safety. The Louisiana commitment also played special teams on several occasions providing key blocks for his first cousin Marcus Green.
In a game against Lake Charles-Boston, at a point in the game when things were tight (12-6) Tre Green provided the turning point. He did this when he converged with a teammate to tackle LCB punter Marcus Harris in the end zone for a safety, putting the Rams up 14-6 with 4:43 remaining in the third quarter. The Bastrop Rams went on a 25-0 run.
In a game against the West Ouachita Chiefs Tre Green had 17 tackles.
Against Booker T Washington Strong safety Tre Green has a team-high 21 tackles with three forced fumbles.
Against Northwood at strong safety Tre Green had 22 tackles.
Against Richwood, Tre Green forced three fumbles and recovered a fourth.
I will go a bit farther than some and call University of Louisiana commitment Tre Green one of the best defensive players in the State. PERIOD.
