Stokka is a good friend of mine, I think he has the talent and the drive. He's a great guy and I hope the best for him. I remember when he knocked the 40 yarder for kick for cash last year at a home game. Piece of cake for himOriginally Posted by RedBug58

With all the practice numbers, is this #86 a wide out or a tight end? How did our passing game look overall - how about the pass blocking?Originally Posted by Turbine

LOUISIANA-L – Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns enjoyed their first scrimmage of the fall on Wednesday morning. Things kicked off at 8:37am with a temperature of 91 degrees and a humidity of 59 percent for a heat index of 104 degrees.
Louisiana started the first half with 10 special teams plays before seven series totaling 50 plays. The first half featured three series each of the first team offense against the second team defense and the second team offense against the first team defense. The third team had one series against one another.
The humidity fell throughout the scrimmage, but the temperature and heat index skyrocketed. The 9:21am (halftime) temperature was 95 degrees with the humidity of 54 percent for a heat index of 111 degrees. The scrimmage concluded at 9:55am under a heat index of 110 degrees (99 degree temperature and 43 percent humidity).
The second half saw only 33 snaps through five series, with the first and second team units facing one another twice.
Red zone opportunities were not part of the scrimmage.
“I thought it was good scrimmage,” said head coach Rickey Bustle. “The first half was cleaner than the second half, but all around, we made some good plays. Nobody took any stupid penalties. Everything is correctable.
Quarterbacks Jerry Babb and Michael Desormeaux struggled early, as Babb started 2-of-5 for seven yards, while Desormeaux completed just one of his first five passes for eight yards. Both QB’s were hurt by a few dropped balls.
Things changed quickly for the quarterbacks at the start of the second half. Babb hit Jason Chery with a deep pass that Chery caught in stride and raced untouched into the end zone for a 70-yard score.
Babb completed four of his last five passes for 126 yards. Desormeaux was perfect in his last five attempts for 37 yards. John Hundley looked good in passing 5-of-7 for 87 yards and Connor Morel completed 4-of-6 for 44 yards.
Fourteen different players caught at least one pass.
“Offensively, we committed some penalties that really hurt us and those two fumbles were not good,” added Bustle. “Defensively, I don’t think we tackled very well and allowed some big plays.
“The coaches backed off and let the kids play. We moved the ball well throwing and passing. The pass protection was really good.”
The ground game was solid all around, totaling 194 yards on 50 carries. Redshirt freshman Deon Wallace led all players with five carries for 63 yards, including a long run of 45 yards.
Thirteen different players had a least one carry.
While the offensive output was impressive with 83 plays for 503 yards, the defense had its share of excellent play.
The offense was held under four yards per carry, including four quarterback sacks, five tackles-for-loss and four stops for no gain. The team also forced and recovered two fumbles. In addition, the defense committed just two penalties, to five by the offense.
The defense was hurt by big plays, allowing eight runs for nine yards or more and nine receptions for 10 yards or more.
Seven players were withheld from the scrimmage with various injuries.
The Cajuns will return to the practice field on Thursday at 3:30pm. Two practices are slated for Friday. The team will hold its second scrimmage of the fall on Saturday at 8:30am.
