It's scrimmage time, and the players are geeked.
The University of Louisiana will hold its first full-scale scrimmage of fall camp at 8:30 a.m. today, a hallmark point in the Cajuns' preparations for the Sept. 2 opener at LSU.
"Everything we're doing builds up to scrimmages when we're in camp," said senior linebacker Wes Simon. "We need to see how we perform when it counts, when we're in a little more pressure situation ... how we play when the coaches aren't standing right next to you."
The Cajuns are scheduled for three full-scale scrimmages at Cajun Field prior to the opener, and today's figures to be the most basic - and likely the most mistake-filled.
"We'll have a lot of things that we'll want to look at," said coach Rickey Bustle. "We won't nearly get to see everything we've put in, but we'll meet to see what we want to get out of it offensively and defensively."
