It is on the right hand side of the Boucher Drive entrance as you enter the building. I would suspect Bittle will be used by the Campus Police.

Making progress on demolition of the "Eyesore Buildings" They have finished with asbestos removal and are now scavenging recycleable materials.

A big pile pf aluminum, stainless steel and carbon steel.

A peek inside of Guillory Hall.

A pile of stuff behind what was Olivier Hall.

Superstitious demolition contractor. I guess he didn't want to take a chance.

SGA has been trying to clean up those buildings for some time now. I guess they gave up a while back. So far back, they forgot to remove the sign.

I guess they will not be brought down by one loud bang...

Do they plan to have these buildings cleared out by the fall semester?

Yes, now that the asbestos is removed, they are progressing quickly with demo. From the contractor told me they should be finished in about 3 weeks.
They are also working on plans for the new green space, etc. in the area. It's going to be a great space when it is all said and done.

Fixing to get serious next week.

Looking pretty bare inside the old dining hall.

I and many others will miss this spot.

Big pile of debris behind what was Corona Hall. They will haul this off first before they start to demolish the structure. They salvage what they can, recycle what they can't salvage and dispose of the rest. Since the building is concrete they will haul the broken concrete to Scott and crush it to use as aggregate. They need to have the concrete as free of other material as possible to make a good crush run.

Rear of what was Olivier Hall.

View of the side walk on the University facade of Bonin and Corona residence halls. Really nice feeling in the area.

I noticed this morning that they brought in another back hoe late yesterday. I guess they are really fixing to get serious next week.

They have cleaned up the recyclables and are finishing up with the debris they already created. It looks like they will not demolish any more than they can haul off for lack of room on the site. Once you have debris on the ground it takes up a tremendous amount of room. They need to make sure they can maneuver around the site to remove the debris they create.

A few photos from today Saturday July 18.

The people doing the demolition are from Mississippi and look like they have done this before. I asked one of the guys if these were the some of the ugliest buildings they have demolished, He said "they look like money to me". I guess it's a matter of perspective.

Some demo contractors back out some of their profit on recyclable items when they bid. Lourdes hospital demo bids are a good example of this.

If you think about it, once the asbestos, wood and glass is out, it's all money to be made.
