Yes. As of late it was used by Honors for the weekly Honors Seminar. We'd usually fit in groups of around 100 in there.

BTW, I am a mid-80's grad, and remember the union pretty well, but am having a hard time picturing the forum area. Can anyone give some details (pics?) of this room? Was it on the 2nd floor, on the bookstore side?

Agreed: guess that's why I like the plaza renderings......instead of a parking lot taking up the majority of the open space, now it will be another "Quad" like area.

And now, practically wherever you go in this block, the lake will be at the center of attention.....as it should be.

I hope there is something in this project to clean up the lake. ie, making it deeper and adding more aeration and filteration to keep it fresh an moving so all of that gross looking alge will stay out. And I agree, Cypress Lake is very unique and a focal point on campus

The forum was located on the first floor immediately to right of the cypress lake entrance.

If you were under the archs, facing away from Cypress lake, it was just to the right. Across fro cafeteria. I too am a mid 80's grad. I was on SGA & that's where we met, I think.

Helmut is right.

Not sure how things were in the 80s, but the main entrance for the forum was almost directly across the hall from the main entrance into the cafeteria. Not sure if the cafeteria in the recent past was where it was in the 80s.

My first semester (late 70's) for some reason I was in the honors program. I remember going in there a few times with Dr. Rickels (who I really didn't care for). But these people were too smart for me and I figured I'd be working in the oil field anyway, so I quit that and joined a fraturnity!!

The book store will be where the old bookstore was. A new food service wing will be constructed between the bookstore and the soon to be demolished Guillory Hall.

Man I just keep thinking how everything is so close to the front of campus dorms and walking to a coffee shop at night in the union to get a sandwich ---Gonna be so nice--Well I guess it is only a couple of blocks to the Keg also!!!!

I think the concept for most colleges now is a "food court" style of situation, with a number of commercial businesses supplying a variety of food styles. I'm pretty sure Zeus will have an outlet as part of the new options, and I'm sure they will have some fast food outlets as well.

That is what I had heard--more of a village concept like walking down the streets in Vail--At least I hope so---really nice!!!
