Even with all the rain lately they have been able to make some progress. I was a little late today, Championship Sunday.
This is a view from the north Harris Hall fire escape. they are getting ready to install auger cast piles for the food service wing with the machine on the right hand side of the photo.
This is a rendering of the renovated building that is on the project sign.
A view from the drive way into the parking lot. Bookstore to the right and ball room to the left.
A view from the top of Olivier Parking Tower.
A view of the Ball Room from the top of Olivier parking tower.
A view from the Olivier Parking tower into the book store mezzanine and stair leading to it.
A little more light into the main hall in front of the Ball Room.
A view from one of the planters by cypress lake. The foreground shows the pit that was in the room called the Forum.
A view from the same location looking back to the canopy (that will remain) and Bookstore.
A view from the same location with the Ball Room to the right. Olivier Parking Tower is in the background.
What a bummer.....but thanks for the info! And all the great pics!
had lots of meetings in that little pit called the forum, never quite understood its design but it was a very functional little room
I've found some additional renderings of the 'new' Student Union, and thought I would post them here (hope that's OK). Not a lot of details, but more than what I've seen before.
Also, in the 3rd pic, I don't see an overhang/balcony over the lake, to replace the one they are wiping out by destroying Guillory Hall.....sure hope they follow-through with the promise to build one.
Good find cajuns_fan! Thanks.
I have to say I'm a little underwhelmed by the design. It actually looks a lot like the old student union in places. But this firm usually does pretty good work so we'll see what the finished product looks like.
Thanks for sharing. Loving all the open space. Makes me want to go back to school.
I like how it incorporates to Walk of Honor arches.
Glad you liked the pics. And while I agree with you on being somewhat 'underwhelmed' by the design, I am also relieved that it is at least it is not as ugly as the new dorms, lol.
I think the plaza plans look pretty cool, as well the view from approx where Guillory Hall is now .
And I while I agree that the old Olivier & Corona Halls needed to go, I hate the fact there seems to be an all-out assault on all the mid-century buildings on campus. Like someone else has said on one of these threads, not EVERY building has to be in the early-American.....or post-modern......styles.
Agreed: guess that's why I like the plaza renderings......instead of a parking lot taking up the majority of the open space, now it will be another "Quad" like area.
And now, practically wherever you go in this block, the lake will be at the center of attention.....as it should be.
