I guess we were right about the pvc pipes: they are for an irrigation system. And I'm not an expert in landscaping, but it sure seems to me that there are a lot of plants (those box wood are less than a foot apart) in that planter...... like it might be a bit overgrown in five years.
Also, there isn't fencing around the bayou bijou entrance anymore.......I think they will be ready in time.
How far are they from wrapping up this project? I'll be in Lafayette during Christmas, so my plans are to walk around with my 7 yr old and check out the new/upgraded building on campus.
I think I had seen 01/07 as the finish date. But I don't think it will be really finished until the 'eyesore' buildings are gone, and that whole area is re-landscaped. Plus, we still don't know what the plans are to recreate the Guillory Hall terrace over the swamp.
But by all means, give it look over when you come for Christmas....it will be mostly done by then.
I was driving by a few nights ago and noticed they have installed multi-color led lights behind some of the glass features.
They will be ready in time. When they start with landscaping it's basically a done deal. The landscaping is nice but after a while it won't be maintained. They had tons of ornamental grass along Taft Street when they finished Baker-Huger and it's all gone now. They just don't have the resources or manpower to keep up the buildings and grounds. That has been my fear all along. They can build but they can't maintain. Just go to the Olivier Parking tower, walk through it and go in the stair wells. It's pretty dirty.
Drove down McKinley this morning, and noticed that they had a pretty big crew working on the sidewalk/landscaping, so I took a couple of pics. It must really be crunch time to be working in this weather, lol. And since it was raining I just took them from my car.
I like the new benches.....they are in pic two and kind of hard to see.
Thems not benches thems saw horses.
