LAFAYETTE - Former Port Barre teammates will be on opposite sidelines when University of Louisiana visits LSU Sept. 2 in Baton Rouge.
But for Ragin Cajun runningback Abdule Levier, it is just another game - it the most important only because it is the first game on the schedule.
Levier said he is friends with LSU senior Daniel Francis and they have talked about the season.
"The last couple of weeks before two-a-days I saw him," Levier said. "We joked around, but we didn't talk about that game much.
"I am looking forward to playing over there against him," he added. "But it is just another game."
Levier gained over 2,800 yards his last two seasons at Port Barre, including 1,511 yards and 22 touchdowns his senior season, the year of the 2002 Class 2-A state championship.
But he was hurt during the track season his senior year and spent a year of rehab after the surgery, enrolling at UL the spring semester of 2004.
"It made me more humble," he said of the injury. "I had to work my way back, but having that setback was kind of a blessing to me as it helped me learn a lot more."
