LOUISIANA La. — Plastered all over the walls inside the Louisiana-Lafayette athletic complex are simple black and white flyers with a direct message:

No. 1 is of course the Ragin’ Cajuns’ season opener, Sept. 2 at LSU. And it would easily go down as the No. 1 biggest all-time victory in ULL’s 105 seasons of football.
But this season could be about much more than that. ULL has a chance to make history.
Like equaling or even eclipsing the school record of nine wins. Like trying to win back-to-back conference titles for the first time since winning the Big West in 1993-94. Like going to their first bowl since the 1970 Grantland Rice Bowl at Baton Rouge’s Memorial Stadium.
Sixteen returning starters led by quarterback Jerry Babb — the Sun Belt Conference preseason offensive player of the year — have raised ambitions for the ULL program high above the playing surface at Cajun Field (which sits two feet below sea level).
“It’s not the same program it was four years ago,” coach Rickey Bustle said Friday during ULL football media day. “You can tell that by the people we’ve recruited, the coaches we’ve hired, our fan base. People believe in what we’re doing.
