Yes. B.J. did sign a multi-year deal last year. Don't remember the details. He was considered one of the best closers last year so this year isn't a surprise.Originally Posted by Turner

5-4 in 10 innings!
TWO PERFECT INNINGS Love it
I was watching Baseball tonight a couple of nights ago, and they were saying that Ryan will be a free agent at the end of the year, (correct me if I'm wrong). With the way he is pitching this year he should get a good bit of money from either Balitmore or from another team looking for a solid pitcher.Originally Posted by CAJUNJUDO

If you ask him he might say he is still a Cajun. His contract is up this year. He should get a nice 7 figure per year deal. Closer Keith Foulke makes $7,000,000 with the Red Sox.
Any time the Yankees lose, its a great day. But when a former Cajun beats the Yankees, it's an even better day! Congrats BJ!
I think it was Fred Stamps who I first heard call himself this. "Cajun Forever"Originally Posted by Dad04

Hey, Remember, Ron Guidry is a Yankee and I am a fan too. take it easy on the Yankees. LOL. Just cause George is filthy rich and he wants his toys to win all the time, you can't hold that against the fanchise.
Had to defend my Yankees.
BALTIMORE (AP) -- The Baltimore Orioles' surprising success this season has not gone unnoticed by fans around the country -- and the rest of the American League.
Shortstop Miguel Tejada and second baseman Brian Roberts were selected by the fans to start for the AL in the All-Star game on July 12 in Detroit. They will be joined by third baseman Melvin Mora and reliever B.J. Ryan, both of whom earned a spot on the roster as a result of player balloting. . . .
Ryan, who has 18 saves and a run of nine straight scoreless appearances, has never before played in an All-Star game. He is the first Orioles pitcher selected to play in the game since Mike Mussina in 1999 and the first Baltimore reliever since Lee Smith in 1994.
The left-hander was honored to be selected by his peers; he got 160 votes compared to 115 for runner-up Mariano Rivera of the New York Yankees.
"You want to be respected by the guys you battle against every day," Ryan said. "It's good to be respected in their eyes, because you have a lot of respect for them."
