Wow, I wonder if they will invite his alma mater now? How sweet would that be?

I would have thought laNeck would have demanded a more "elite" person be selected.

Track & Field Reaching out to B.J. Ryan...

Shreveport, La. – Independence Bowl officials announced on Monday that B.J. Ryan has been named the bowl’s “2008 Carl Mikovich Sportsperson of the Year.”

Based on today's events, I hope one of you knows B.J., and can convince him to tell the Indy Bowl to take a hike...publicly if possible, on ESPN :-)

I sure would not put money on it. That will NEVER happen.

Nor do I think it would be a wise thing for him or the university. I think a lot of people need to get off the keyboards and take a deep breath. We need to me mature adults and not fly off the handle with our emotions when things don't go our way. That is childish and seems to fit the profile of those we DON'T want to emulate over the basin. Don't worry, the sun will rise tomorrow.

Dont come here with a straight head. We are Cajun fans. We have the luxury of flying off the handle every 2-3 months because something major has just been screwed up. WE NEED TO RELEASE THE ANGER!

Nobody's worried that the sun will NOT rise tomorrow. I am so sick of people saying that. Are we supposed to bend over and get screwed every time we turn around, and be happy about it?

Don't get me wrong. I agree that BJ turning down the award would be stupid, but nobody is worried that the world is going to end because of this. It is extremely discouraging that we have one of the worst football programs in the history of the world, and some people are perfectly fine with that.

It is entirely up to Mr. Ryan, but I would certainly not be "mature" enough to lend my name and reputation to aid an institution such as the Independence Bowl that purposefully undermined my alma maters bowl game opportunity.

As for me and your opinion of my response to the actions of the Independence Bowl Selection Committee, if you prefer to be an antelope that runs 100 yards and clings to the rest of the herd when 5 lions attack your friend, thankful that it was not you that the lions caught this time, have at it...

I am going to try to convince the other 500 antelopes that they actually outnumber the 5 lions and can take em in a fight :-)

Listen, bud, I am NOT perfectly fine with where we are in athletics. I just think we look and sound VERY immature with all of the whining and pouting going on right now. Why do you think all of these trolls come out on nights like this? They get a huge kick out of seeing us all blathered up and ranting. All of this venting on a message board will make NO difference in our athletic teams. Let me repeat: ZERO difference from these boards. These are for our fans to discuss our likes and dislikes. If you want to effect change, I suggest you work on contacting the AD and the University President. THEY can make changes, not us. However, if you want to gather people from this board and get a serious letter campaign going, then you might have something.

First, let me say I totally disagree with your suggestion for Mr. Ryan. I think your motive is totally off-base. If you think the Bowl Committee set out to "purposely undermine" our "bowl game opportunity", I think you're wrong.

Second, I have no idea what your analogy has to do with anything I have said. My response to what you said was not aimed at you personally. I have been reading all of this venting tonight by various people, and I feel that much of it, while it may make us feel good right now, will do nothing but make us look like a bunch of crybabies and losers - which is oddly what the trolls always call us. I am sick of that. I just happened to be on your post when I chose to say something about it. I'm sorry if you took it personally.
