Saints' players suspended

The question I want answered is - "Did Vilma pay Bobby McCray $10,000 for knocking Kurt Warner out of the game." It has been said many times that the Saints payed for knock outs. Well Warner was knocked out, and Vilma is said to have offered 10K before the game. If Vilma paid McCray, then I think the yearlong suspension is warranted. If the NFL has no proof that a transaction took place then I think Goodell and the NFL better get ready for a strong fight from the players union.

The transaction of money is a big deal in my eyes.

I don't think the suspensions clear up cap space. even if they did, it's not final that these guys will be suspended for this long with appeals. I doubt this has any effect on the Brees situation.

The Saints have the right to act on the news of the suspension. They do not have to wait for the appeals. Actions by the league, even if a suspension is reversed, allows the Saints to hold the league responsible as well. It will affect the signing of Brees... no doubt about it.

the problem with brees is not cap space, actually the franchise tag takes up more cap space. the hold up is he wants a front loaded contract of 69 million dollars, 23 in each of the first 3 years. the saints want to give him an evenly spread contract. they both agreed on a 100 million dollar contract. the saints want to give 60 in the first 3 years and brees wants 69 million in the first 3, to avoid what happened to him in san diego and what just happened to peyton manning.

vilma just took a paycut and restructured his contract into a signing bonus, he wasnt going to be a big cap hit either way. will smith did the same.
