Arizona has had double-digit losses every year since 2005. The Wildcats barely had a .500 record in conference play last season and failed to reach the College World Series, ending a streak of six consecutive appearances.

... and playing in the Pac-12 is how they were able to muster a #8 RPI at selection time last year, despite a 40-16 record. They were 13-15 vs. the RPI Top 25 ... 1-9 vs. the RPI Top 10 ... and 7-14 vs. the RPI Top 16. Despite this, they received the #8 National Seed. Their non-conference RPI rank was 4.
