Translation:
We need to win the SBC, often.
We need to win bowl games.
We need to hire another great Coach after Bustle moves on.
When offerred an invite to a higher profile conference, we need to take it.
In 1999 they played 3 1AA CS Northridge, Portland State, and Weber State.Originally Posted by HOTBOUDIN
In 2000 they went 10-3 with Losses against North Texas, UCLA, and Hawaii. They beat 2 1AA that year...Southern Utah and Eastern Washington and they beat Louisville in the Humanitarian.
In 2001 they lost to South Carolina and Washington State to open the season and they beat Idaho and Central Michigan. Idaho and Central Michigan aren't exactly top competition.
2002 was the first year I really payed attention to them because as you pointed out they beat Iowa State. In OOC games that year they played Utah State, Idaho, Wyoming, and Arkansas. Thoughs out of conference games look a like like the OOC games we had this year before we lost that Ohio game.
What your saying is true they won games but just like I stated they won games against low competition untill they got players to play with the bigger boys. And yes they have had 2 very good coachs both of which I would put in the top 5 offensive coordinators but they beat a lot of subpar teams to do it.
Agreed.Originally Posted by crazycajun

That's a pretty dynamic bunch. I think the school was a JUCO until something like 1967. Haven't been to their site in a long time, but I remember pictures of the stages of development with their stadium. Very impressive.Originally Posted by HOTBOUDIN
I would imagine that if they expanded from 9 to 12, the leading candidates would be Boise State, Fresno State, and UTEP. It will be interesting to see how TCU fares in the MWC, being so far away from the other schools.
For Clutch,
It's not about number of wins.
It's not about big time upsets.
When you're being compared against other schools for possible additions to another league, they want to see CONSISTENCY and EXCELLENCE.
That is measured by championships and bowl victories.
I understand what your saying but they realized they had to win, and didn't schedule body bag games that would kill the morale of the team. What is better going on the road and getting pounded by say LSU and Florida, or building confidence yourself by pounding the lil guys. Thoughs games gave them momentum. if they had schedule big boys instead of portland state and northridge the record would looked kinda like a lot of the sunbelt schools even though they might win a bolw game.Originally Posted by HOTBOUDIN
Their first 3 years of 1-A, '96, '97, '98, Boise had a 5-3 record against 1-AA schools. That's pathetic. They had an overall record of 12-22. That's not good either. Those same 3 years, they loss to ARIZONA STATE, WISCONSIN, and WASHINGTON STATE twice.Originally Posted by Clutch0364
By the way, that CS-Northridge game you mentioned:
CS-Northridge------63
Boise State--------23
Those first 3 years, Boise didn't pound anybody. They built their program by winning championships and bowl games.
So what looks better 10-2 with 2 money games losses or 8-4 with 4 money game losses. Winning helps and if you don't think that then your crazy. Look at North Texas they won 5 Sunbelt titles and 1 bowl game and look where they are at. Unless you schedule right and win games in OOC you get no respect regardless of who your coach is. Winning brings in more fans, better recruits, and more money. With wins come championships and respect.Originally Posted by HOTBOUDIN
I honestly think we are on the same page with this. We both know you have to have great leadership at coach and in higher places to make things work. But like I said you have to have a reasonable schedule going get your brains beat in week in and week out doesn't build a team that just tears it apart.our schedule this year is perfect in my opinion and I think we have a coach that will take us places.Originally Posted by HOTBOUDIN
Let's clarify a few things.Originally Posted by Clutch0364
1) Scheduling easy games against 1-AA competition does NOT get you respect, more fans, more money, or better recruits.
2) Scheduling more than 2 money games a year is not a good thing. I agree with you. However, that does not give you the green light to schedule Little Sisters Of The Poor for your other non-conference games. They should still be quality, yet winnable games.(Houston, Rice, Tulane, Louisiana Tech, SMU, TULSA, UTEP, Southern Miss, UAB, Memphis, Central Florida, East Carolina, Baylor, etc...)
3) With QUALITY wins come Championships and Respect.
Is it called scheduling little sisters of the poor when bcs schools schedule schools like us?Originally Posted by HOTBOUDIN
