What aspect of the game do you feel they went away from?
Sounds to me like ya'll ran the ball quite a bit and from everything I've heard...that's your team's strength.
This is humorous.
Ya'll feel like you held back plays in a losing effort. Meanwhile, most Aggies feel like we held back plays in our unimpressive win because they weren't necessary.
What gives?
Babb didn't have a good game, but LSU had a little to do with it. It was the opening game of the season and LSU has a serious defense. My buddy kept wanting Bustle to pull Babb, but it would not have been good to put Desormeaux in, early in this game. Bustle played the offense that we are going to win with throughout the season. "We ran it up the middle too much." Bustle wants this Oline to learn how and make a habit of opening holes, even in the worst of circumstances, for Fenroy to fly thru, from this point forward. I wanted us to at least chunk a few "keep em honest" passes down field. But every time Babb dropped back to set for a downfield toss, he had someone in his face, and our recievers were well covered. I was at the game, but also watched the tape of the game, and we also had quite a few missed assignments. Much of Babb's nervous feet came off of other player's miscues.
If you bother to watch the game on film, you will see that we actually played very well for an opening game, against a top 10 team. The QB is going to take the heat in a lopsided game. I haven't seen a team or a fan base this tuned in since the Dwight, Brian, and Jake days. Babb will prove his worth this season. Let's beat some Texas Aggie arse... again!
Absolutely none of this makes sense.Originally Posted by ecajuns

I think they did about as good a job as they could with traffic. I too spent some time in traffic, but that's just how it is when 92,000 try to go somewhere. Imagine if the whole city of Lafayette tried to go to the mall at the same time. They reversed traffic flow after the game to create more outflow, but LSU is stuck in a spot where there are just not enough ways to get in and out.Originally Posted by RaginFan2
We did not "hold back plays"... Bustle did stick to conservative calls on both sides of the ball. I think he prepped the team with the season playbook and made slight adjustments for LSU. I agree with the strategy, regardless of outcome.Originally Posted by Tbone1
The Aggies take a step up this week... we take a step down. How big is each respective step will have to be proven on Saturday.
We didn't change much in offensive play calling. We did change some personnel mid 3Q. That had an affect. I agree that from that point forward, it became "work on the rest of the year".
You are not wrong per say but there was a definite shift in approach to the game. By the end of the 1st half UL's starting back was on pace for a 100+ yard game, he carried the ball 1 time in the 2nd half.Originally Posted by Tbone1

The Peach Bowl remark was clarified. As for UL Baseball, you need not say more, you need to listen to Turbine. UL had to beat #1 South Carolina to make it to the 2000 CWS. We were within a game of knocking off #1 Rice the year before. I admire the h$ll out of LSU baseball, but don't put down UL baseball. We can compete, and have.Originally Posted by evangelinetiger
I want to see both teams go as deep as possible, but LSU may not ever see the Skip glory years again. He can't keep his hands out of it, and that is never going to attract or maintain another stellar coach.
Babb had a rough game but let's be honest here LSU isn't a pop-warner football team. This game illustrated the gap in talent between us and them. I think our run defense was good in the 1st half. Our pass defense was bad but let's face it LSU has some very fast and talented receivers. I saw a UL team that did a much better job tackling than they did in previous seasons.
I thought our offensive play calling was vanilla. I know we will run the ball alot this season but let's face it that game plan wasn't going to work against LSU. We will have to keep defenses honest. I think all of our opponents this season will know who Tyrell Fenroy is. It will be up to our receivers to make catches to keep our foes honest.
