You have probably about 30-40 thousand cars (my guess) trying to leave a relatively small area on a relatively limited number of available lanes, all at the same time.

Traffic is going to suck. There is no way around it.

You can throw a legion of cops at it and you're still going to be idling for a while. There's only so many cars you can jam down a lane in an hour.

The food is just as good if nto better at UL tailgating and the thing that I like most about UL is that everyone tailgates in pretty much the same area. Everyone is close enough to walk around and talk and share drinks and good food.

I guess it depends upon your definition of "fun" 3rd Row....

If "fun" is seeing who can be the most obnoxious fan when an opposing fan walks by... LSUA&M has it hands down

If "fun" is meeting new people and welcoming them to your home... UL has it hands down.. Ask the Minnesota Fans.. They went back and wrote a letter to their home town newspaper sayin g they had never had a more enjoyable time at a tailgating...

Large numbers do not make the environment better.... It's quality... I am not going to get into a debate that obviously I cant win.... but as you said to each their own... I just dont get what you call "passion" when in fact it is "obnoxious" behavior.....

Would there be any objection if I encouraged the LSU fans to sail their rusty old "flagship" on back to tigerdroppings? Don't they have other games to play this year, other fans to degrade, other venues to befoul? I mean, come on, our cars aren't parked straight? What kind of hooey is that?

No I am not joking. It was either last year r the year before we were featured on ESPN for how good our tailgating is.

Granted this was 10 years ago, but when we played Texas A&M in Lafayette, A&M fans were on Houston sports radio talking about the game. One fan said that he has traveled to every T A&M away game for the past 15 years and the UL tailgating (for that game) was the best he had seen around the country. Only problem is, we don't have 40,000 people for every game like we did for that one.

I was impressed with LSU's tailgating and all of the people around the stadium. I was particularly impressed with their tradition of the team and later the band walking down the hill to the stadium with thousands on either side of the street cheering them on. It was a great atmosphere. I wish we had performed better, but otherwise, had a terrific time at LSU, as I did 4 years ago. A few Tiger Baits, but talked to a lot of nice people and had a lot of fun. I wish we played LSU every year.

1. Despite protestations to the contrary, LSUA&M fans are not indifferent when it comes to UL... I have heard the refrain so many times, "I really don't know why you hate LSU, we dont have anything against you (UL)"... Well a stroll around the pre-game last Saturday would prove otherwise.... Thousands of shirts proclaiming "USL..ULL..UL.. U SUCK" and "OOOHH La La.. Maybe this year" ridiculing the fact that we had not scoired against A&M in the past.... Now these were not random fans filled with alcohol.. these were pre-printed shirts... They type you see when a really big game is coming up.. I'd venture to say they wont have similar shirts when Freshno comes to town... So let's drop this hypocrisy.... Its ok... I dont like LSU.. you dont like UL... cool... but this touchy feely friendly rivals BS is just that...

I'd rather play the Cajuns then Appalachian State, etc. but I'd much rather play a team from a BCS conference.

It doesn't matter what STATE fans want, Skip is not dumb. He knows that STATE made more money playing UL than it could have with almost any other non-conference school! I'd be shocked if UL is not back on STATE's schedule again in the not too distant future!!!

I agree, for non-BCS teams. Attendance-wise, I think we make more sense than any other mid-majors.
