What aspect of the game do you feel they went away from?

Sounds to me like ya'll ran the ball quite a bit and from everything I've heard...that's your team's strength.

    This is humorous.

Ya'll feel like you held back plays in a losing effort. Meanwhile, most Aggies feel like we held back plays in our unimpressive win because they weren't necessary.

    What gives?

Babb didn't have a good game, but LSU had a little to do with it. It was the opening game of the season and LSU has a serious defense. My buddy kept wanting Bustle to pull Babb, but it would not have been good to put Desormeaux in, early in this game. Bustle played the offense that we are going to win with throughout the season. "We ran it up the middle too much." Bustle wants this Oline to learn how and make a habit of opening holes, even in the worst of circumstances, for Fenroy to fly thru, from this point forward. I wanted us to at least chunk a few "keep em honest" passes down field. But every time Babb dropped back to set for a downfield toss, he had someone in his face, and our recievers were well covered. I was at the game, but also watched the tape of the game, and we also had quite a few missed assignments. Much of Babb's nervous feet came off of other player's miscues.

If you bother to watch the game on film, you will see that we actually played very well for an opening game, against a top 10 team. The QB is going to take the heat in a lopsided game. I haven't seen a team or a fan base this tuned in since the Dwight, Brian, and Jake days. Babb will prove his worth this season. Let's beat some Texas Aggie arse... again!

The fact is that we have a very qualified qb sitting second, so if things are not going Babb's way, he should be replaced immediately in order to give this team a chance to win. Either that, or a rotation game plan should be installed each week. Depending on which qb is playing better and hot, they should remain in the game. What is different in football where starting qb's are not yanked when playing poorly...this occurs nightly when coaches replace their ace pitchers in baseball.

Additionally, the offensive coach did not threaten to stretch the field and/or take shots down the field during the ENTIRE GAME. Why not? Are we simply a run option team. Seems to me if the pressure is fast by the defensive line, then the coach would get away from this play action/fake handoff ____ and try to make quick strikes to his receivers or set up the qb in shotgun w/o any fake handoffs simply to allow him more time to view down the field. I thought the coaching and game plan on offense was not well thought of and uncreative, things that need to be considered when playing a undeniably faster and better team. Anybody agree w/h my thoughts concerning the offensive play calling?
Absolutely none of this makes sense.

Thank you. I wasn't going to take the time. This is substantially more accurate. thread starter...take notes.

You'd think that since they'd done this gameday thing with large crowds for decades, they'd be better able to manage the traffic. It took me about 2 hours to find a parking spot after I got there around 1:30. (Also post-game, we waited for over an hour before attemptingto get to my car. That took forever, too. It was well after midnight before I got out of the traffic quagmire.) I hung out first with my son at his fraternity party by the ice cream place on campus. He's in Theta Xi at UL and they had a great turn-out. They cooked some great gumbo and jambalaya. Some of there members are fans of both schools and cut a t-shirt and a hat from each school, cut them in half and joined them together into a half&half outfit. Looked kinda interesting. Then I went over to a tailgate party with a couple of my old high school buddies who are LSU fans. Both are TAF members, one went to LSU and the other to LA Tech. We had a fun time together. I even went with them to their TAF pregame in the PMAC (it was air conditioned!). I sat with my son for the game way up in sec. 643. I saw a lot red scattered around the stadium along with the concentration in the visitors' sections.

After the game I heard about a little incident. One of the guys in my son's frat was arrested. The story I heard was from another guy in the frat who is now in law school at LSU. He was wearing an LSU shirt and hat. He said this guy was walking over to talk with somebody when somebody (with security presumably- but wearing an LSU pullover shirt) told him not to cross over a line. He apparently didn't hear the warning. The security guy approached and poked his fingers into the frat guy's chest knocking him backwards. This guy is a former Marine who just got back from his second tour of Iraq in Jan. Needless to say he didn't take the poke well. Several Sheriff's deputies took him down and handcuffed him, then took him away. Later he was released. I spoke with him later that night and he seemed OK.
I think they did about as good a job as they could with traffic. I too spent some time in traffic, but that's just how it is when 92,000 try to go somewhere. Imagine if the whole city of Lafayette tried to go to the mall at the same time. They reversed traffic flow after the game to create more outflow, but LSU is stuck in a spot where there are just not enough ways to get in and out.

We did not "hold back plays"... Bustle did stick to conservative calls on both sides of the ball. I think he prepped the team with the season playbook and made slight adjustments for LSU. I agree with the strategy, regardless of outcome.

The Aggies take a step up this week... we take a step down. How big is each respective step will have to be proven on Saturday.

We didn't change much in offensive play calling. We did change some personnel mid 3Q. That had an affect. I agree that from that point forward, it became "work on the rest of the year".

You are not wrong per say but there was a definite shift in approach to the game. By the end of the 1st half UL's starting back was on pace for a 100+ yard game, he carried the ball 1 time in the 2nd half.

6 other ball carriers got looks.

I'll compare records in baseball any day of the week and twice on sunday. 13 CWS appearances, 5 national champs. 1 CWS appear, no national champs.

In basketball LSU won by 20. How much does it take to convince that LSU was better? LSU went to the final four, its 3rd final four btw. the best that UL has ever done is round of 16 I think. never a final four. LSU has 3 players in 50 basketball players of all time. I don't think that I need to justify its accomplishments.

    Need I say more?

I pull for UL to win and I pull for all la schools. I just can't stomach the snide remarks like, "have fun in the Peach Bowl" when your program would kill to be in that situation.
The Peach Bowl remark was clarified. As for UL Baseball, you need not say more, you need to listen to Turbine. UL had to beat #1 South Carolina to make it to the 2000 CWS. We were within a game of knocking off #1 Rice the year before. I admire the h$ll out of LSU baseball, but don't put down UL baseball. We can compete, and have.

I want to see both teams go as deep as possible, but LSU may not ever see the Skip glory years again. He can't keep his hands out of it, and that is never going to attract or maintain another stellar coach.

Babb had a rough game but let's be honest here LSU isn't a pop-warner football team. This game illustrated the gap in talent between us and them. I think our run defense was good in the 1st half. Our pass defense was bad but let's face it LSU has some very fast and talented receivers. I saw a UL team that did a much better job tackling than they did in previous seasons.

I thought our offensive play calling was vanilla. I know we will run the ball alot this season but let's face it that game plan wasn't going to work against LSU. We will have to keep defenses honest. I think all of our opponents this season will know who Tyrell Fenroy is. It will be up to our receivers to make catches to keep our foes honest.
