I think we did run the option. The only thing is that the qb is reading the defensive end. If the end shoots into the backfield he gives the ball to the back through the middle. If the end stays back then he keeps the ball on the option. The end was pretty much always in the backfield which is why we kept running the first back through.

after a scoring gap of 93-3 in the last two meetings, I would think that you would be able to recognize the vast difference in the two programs. I am watching the game on dvr and it was over within the first 5 minutes. UL never really competed to win this game. They showed themselves well and will be an excellent sunbelt team. But the sunbelt is not the SEC and will never be.

It is a good thing for this state to have multiple successful programs, but don't confuse that with UL somehow being LSU's equal or rival. Saturdays game should have proved that.

maybe you should change the statment from programs to football. Since all you blow us out in is football. We can compete in just about every other sport. Sure you may beat us, but it isnt a blow out. And dont think because you are the flagship school, we are going to back down. Its just not going to happen. Geaux Cajuns

In our offense we always have the option of who to give it to I think what they meant to say is Jerry rarely ran with fenroy and then pitched, the decision was made in the backfield. This would be to avoid Jerry taking any unnecessary hits

Also the one sport we did start beating you in, th eol tigers stopped playing us in. And if the almight tiger basketball is so great why not a return trip to the cajundome.

as I reminded a UL baseball player on sat, UL only beat LSU in mid-week games. In the playoffs LSU swept and went on to the next round. The one yr that UL went to the CWS, they came out fifth and the tigers won. The other 12 times that LSU went to the CWS, UL did not make it that far. I'll compare records in baseball any day of the week and twice on sunday. 13 CWS appearances, 5 national champs. 1 CWS appear, no national champs.

In basketball LSU won by 20. How much does it take to convince that LSU was better? LSU went to the final four, its 3rd final four btw. the best that UL has ever done is round of 16 I think. never a final four. LSU has 3 players in 50 basketball players of all time. I don't think that I need to justify its accomplishments.

    Need I say more?

I pull for UL to win and I pull for all la schools. I just can't stomach the snide remarks like, "have fun in the Peach Bowl" when your program would kill to be in that situation.

The Tigers will eventually play in the Cajundome. It was going to happen this year, in fact, but the two teams couldn't work the dates out as it was being attempted pretty late.

Ill agree with almost everything you stated. The overall quality of the program is indeed impressive. However . . .

The mid-week "only" myth is not true!

In 2002 after winning the regular season midweek vs. LSU, UL went into BR and had to face Tulane (W) LSU on the other hand took a gamble and used its #3 pitcher vs. Southern still a (W)

When LSU and UL faced off next, LSU's #1 pitcher was beaten (shutout 5-0) by UL's #2 pitcher.

LSU then dropped down to the loser’s bracket and eliminated Tulane using their #2 pitcher.

Then when it came to LSU's #4 vs. UL's #3 and 5 vs. 4 LSU defeated UL 2-12 in back to back games to advance. I thought that was Smokes best strategic moment as an LSU coach. His worst strategic moment was right after that when he forfeited the UL-LSU series. It sent the wrong message to his players.

It didn't happen overnight, but in my view it was the beginning of the end for Smoke.

    Default Time to move on.....

There are no more games scheduled against State in the future, so now we've got more important things to worry about.

    On to the Aggies.....

Aggies are 20.5-point favorites this morning.
