BATON ROUGE - Northside's Randell Daigle and Carencro's LaRyan Gary played high school basketball within a few miles of each other.

They'll take the court together this fall for Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns.

But for Thursday's LHSCA All-Star Basketball Game at LSU's Maravich Assembly Center, the two Lafayette Parish products will play for opposing sides.

Daigle is on the West Squad coached by Donaldsonville's Greg Hill, along with fellow Acadiana area products Derrien Williams of Westgate and Darrell Hicks of Jennings.

Gary, on the other hand, was assigned to the East after both were originally top alternates for the game.

"It wasn't really an East-West thing," Daigle said. "It was a lottery."

"It is kind of strange, being so close but playing on different teams," said Gary.
