Robe & Babb need to geaux
It seems as though the players just dont respond to Robe.....not sure whos fault that is but something needs to change quickly.
Robe is a great coach but he seems to be playing chess more now than ever. I think more aggressive checkers play at the plate and on the pads needs to be introduced. It's an attitude thing. You can't feel like "the man" when someone makes you feel like "the man" resides in the dugout. I couldn't believe how this team never rallied around base runners today and took this game over at the plate and on the pads. Pitching is another game all to itself. Our pitchers are doing their job.
We had a couple of dumb baserunning decisions. We did well to get on base today but we have to freakin score when we get there.
I heard Robe in post game say what we are doing wrong. So coach get off your _____ and tell them what is needed to do it right for a change. That crap you did last Wednesday afternoon, running the players into the ground after the lost to Southern was not call for. Even putting a player in the hospital for heat exhaustion and some throwing up on the field, and running with a sour hamstring (Griffitt), was not called for. It didn't do a damn bit of good. May have done more damage.
venting........
It wasn't just base running timidity. It is an attitude issue at the plate. There isn't any cockiness on this team. Or, any that is there, is being muzzled in favor of chess moves. There are games and/or times where you tell players to take off the gloves and get dirty. Today would have been a good day to do that.
this team can't get dirty...field is astroturf...lol
I don't go many games but went today. This was the most frustrating game I have watched in a long time. We did not move up the baserunners on a long fly ball to center field. I think the run could have scored from third on the slow roller hit by Conrad in the ninth. Saw Conrad clearly upset the run did not score. Also, I think Babs should have sent the runner from second on a hit earlier in the game. Of course, that is after the fact and I am sure if the runner had be thrown out at the plate, I would have questioned that play as well. But what are the odds lately that we would have back-to-back hits to scorre a run? Every inning we had a least one and sometimes two runners in scoring position but could not deliver. Heard we stranded 16 (yes 16) baserunners. WOW. Hitters did not look confident once we got people on base. Difficult and frustrating game to watch!
