    UL Football Senior Camp

Sorry if this has been posted.
This is from the Pelican Preps site on Rivals. Pretty good article though he could drop the "at Lafayette" part. If he keeps up this kind of coverage it may be worth subscribing.

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette had a good turnout for its senior day camp on Monday with more than 200 players from Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama on hand.

Campers got a chance to tour the Louisiana-Lafayette athletic facilities, visit with coaches and ultimately workout with the Ragin Cajuns football staff. Seniors had their heights and weights taken before watching a highlight video of ULL's 2005 season, which ended on a five-game winning streak. Then it was off to get 40 times and then position workouts and drills. The finale was one-on-one work.

The event drew some of the Louisiana's top athletes, including LSU defensive back commit Delvin Breaux from McDonogh 35 and Breaux's brother, standout wide receiver Lionel Breaux, in addition to Roneagles defensive end Terrance Moore. Both Moore and Lionel Breaux have scholarship offers from major Division I-A programs.

Catholic-New Iberia standout Josh Dworaczyk, one of the state's top offensive line prospects who actually has an offer from the Cajuns, was on hand but did not participate. The affable Dworaczyk, who recently returned from vacationing with his family, instead visited with coaches and other campers, including several C-NI teammates like fullback prospect Ross Walet.

Some of the state's top quarterbacks, including PelicanPreps.com's top-ranked Eric St. Amand of McDonogh 35, were there. Other standout signal callers at the event were Hahnville's Early James, Rummel's Scott Buisson and junior-to-be James Landry from Assumption among others.

Two of the top running backs on hand were Crowley's Jordan Landry and West St. John's Daron Bartholomew.

Some of the better offensive linemen out of a good crop on hand were Denham Springs Jonathan LeBlanc, Catholic-Baton Rouge's Logan Roubique and Kyle Free, Adam Zeringue from West Feliciana, Bart Roussel from Riverside. Also, tight ends Jordan Hanby of Fontainebleau and Crowley's Mitchell Faulk was in attendance.

Moore was the highlight of the Louisiana defensive linemen on hand.

Delvin Breaux was the top defensive back on hand, but there was also standout safety Grant Fleming from St. Thomas More. Patterson WR Paul Cox was there as well.

Some of the top linebackers were Zachary's Kevin Persick and Jordan Landry from St. James.

Silly question: Do y'all think having this camp in any way is a good recruitment tool? Does this camp at all sway the opinions of the recruits out there? Is recruitment, the reason why we have these camps, or is it to help them develop their skills?

    God Bless

I think a big reason for it is to bring in potential recruits and see how well they take in all the information. You can see how well they are able to learn and you get to see a few of their stats like their speed and strength.

I don't know about the Cajuns camp, but I know Iowa State uses a camp as a way for the coaches to get an up close view of a prospect. It's a chance for them to evaluate a prospect in real conditions, not just looking at film and highlight tapes. It also gives the coach a chance to take in a prospects character on the field, how they handle themselves after a big play or after giving up a play. The coaches at Iowa State usually wait to offer a prospect until they've gotten a chance to study them at camp.

As far as recruits go, it's a good way for the recruits to get a feel of the way the coaches coach and act on the field. They also get a chance to see the campus and facilities.

I would think Bustle and Co. would have another camp where underclassmen are allowed to participate because it would allow them to watch a player mature and also allow them the chance to build a relationship with the player before they get to their senior year.

I think not having one hurts you a lot more than having one helps.

You can't afford not to have one.

The football camp is organized into a morning session for non-high schoolers and the afternoon camp is for the high schoolers. They did have a session for seniors by invitation one hour earlier on Monday to view the facilities,
meet with coaches and see the campus on the first day. They then went to the camp with the underclassman and they all stayed together rest of camp.
